By prowling my ex-husband's fb I found out that my former MIL died, and by prowling my ex-boyfriend's fb I found out that his twin brother died. I am not surprised by either one, but it feels weird to know and I can't tell anyone who knew them without admitting that I was poking around on facebook, which is embarrasing.

That used to be U.S. by Thomas Friedman and someone.

Do you trust the government?

It depends on who is in the government. I definitely don't believe that government is inherently bad, but it definitely can be bad if power is in the wrong hands.

What video gaming system(s), if any, do you own?

An XBOX 360 which is my boyfriend's but I play it more than he does, and a DS which I only really play on long train journeys or if I remember how amazing Animal Crossing is for a while.

What thing that's native to your home town or area do you have a hard time explaining to people elsewhere?

roundabouts. seriously, they're not that difficult.

where did *you* get your protein today?

Quinoa-buckwheat-hemp pancakes for breakfast, protein shake after gym :)

Do you really like quinoa, or do you pretend to?

I love quinoa. It is so good.

Chocolate it vanilla?

I actually had quinoa for the first time when I was in the hospital for a couple of days last summer. They had a LOT of vegan options on their menu, and this was like a pilaf or something. There were vegetables in it and it was delicious. I can't seem to get it to be that good. Maybe I'm getting the wrong kind or not rinsing it enough before cooking it.

Okay, what does a vegan do when they get a cold? Besides suffer, that is?

Chocolate over vanilla.

Lots and lots of ginger tea! Or pumpkin soup with freshly grated ginger.


What song is stuck in your head right now?

Moonlight Sonata (guitar hero-eque game I've been playing has this song, and I'm trying to beat my high score).

Are you the kind of person who can eat way more than two pieces of toast, and what do you put on them?

Toast is my favorite food! I could probably eat a whole loaf of toast for one meal if I let myself, but I normally try to keep it to about two pieces at a time. In the morning for breakfast I usually have nut butter or occasionally Smart Balance Light, and jam. Today I had almond butter and fig butter. Yum. For a snack, I like EB or SB and nooch or marmite/vegemite. The same is really good along side soup or salad for lunch or dinner.

What is your favorite way to exercise?

I used to enjoy hiking and running quite a bit, but now that I am out of shape it hurts my thighs. :/

What are your Thanksgiving plans? Or if you're not American, what are your holiday food gorging plans like?

Not sure yet, it depends on if I work on Thanksgiving or not (fingers crossed for no).

What's the last thing you baked?

I made a loaf of bread a couple of days ago. it came out perfectly! but now I'm out of Vegemite and I'm sad. what good is bread without Vegemite?

I generally stick to peanut butter. I'm a traditionalist like that.

Do you like sweetened or unsweetened nut butter?

unsweetened! unless it's hazelnut, then you are obliged to add chocolate.

yep!

Do you say hot cocoa or hot chocolate?

hot chocolate.

Do you wear a watch?

Most of the time, so I know when the classes that I teach end.

The Lard of the Rings: the Ring Sets Out (my set is divided into 7instead of three)

What forms of pickle do you prefer? (Spears, whole, sliced, mini, etc)

I like mini ones! The cornishons? I like them.

Haha, definitely not!

Favourite pizza topping?

Grilled aubergine, courgette, sun-dried tomatoes.

Do you think Obama will be able to get any policy work through with Congress staying Republican controlled?

I would like to think that the GOP would realize that their strategy of 'block everything Obama tries in order to make him look bad and therefore be unelectable' was a turd and might have played a part in costing them the election. But no, I don't think he'll get a ton done because I think they will still block everything they can. We're just so divided that it's sickening.

How often do you get your hair cut?

About twice a year, three times at most.
