I'm alone in the Bay Area on Jewish Xmas! And I can't decide which movie to see.

I had enough potatoes left to make a large bowl of mashed potatoes with caramelized onions and baby lima beans in addition to my pancakes. I am full of carby goodness to fuel my packing and cleaning!

I've been glued to Secretly Pregnant since after dinner. Now I have a mighty dose of broodiness.

Les Mis? Is that an awful suggestion? I really want to see it. After The Hobbit.

I originally read this as, "I've been secretly pregnant since December." I think it's time for my nap.

lol! Well given the amount of food I have eaten today I now have a bloated belly that looks like I've been pregnant since last December.

I enjoyed BRIE!! this morning from Artisan Vegan Cheeses.

I'm making that right now! Mine is at the final refrigeration stage right now. The cashew cheese kinda tasted like butt though, so I hope it turns out better after this last step.

Update! It tastes pretty good now! I added a little white wine vinegar and a dash of liquid smoke. Yum! I don't actually remember what brie tastes like though, which is kinda weird since it used to be one of my favorites, but it has been over ten years now since I've eaten it.

Three degrees of awesomeness!! PPK scores again!

I just made some ridiculously awesome pasta after watching Tony Bourdain (who i suppose is my secret disgusting gastronomic pleasure, is that what that thread is titled?) and deciding that it had been a while since I had made tomato sauce.

I have attended three Christmases, all of which had an unnecessarily large prime rib. It was disgusting. As for meals, I've had a baked potato with nothing on it at one, an ok lentil loaf and green bean casserole at another (thank god for the vegan sister), and wine at the last.
My family- my entire family, both sides- for the first time in my life was excited to meet my significant other. This is a huge deal, since none of my significant others have met my family, aside from my high school boyfriend. Well, turns out I get to go to his and meet his entire family, but all he does is stop by and play cards with my dad, brother, and me on Christmas Eve.
Thanks. I endured three hours of awkward chitchat and uncomfortable chatter in which I couldn't voice an opinion, but you didn't even bother coming to meet my family. I gave up seeing my older siblings and my niece and nephews today to meet yours, but leaving your family a couple hours early was just too much to ask.

I am so thankful I actually like most of my family- all of them if I'm tipsy.
So now I am sitting on my rump, eating curry, watching How I Met Your Mother, and considering the wine we have in the cupboard.

Oooh, your additions sound yummy, choirqueer! I'm glad it turned out for you. I have to agree, I didn't love the cashew cheese base by itself either, but I thought the brie turned out really lovely. I may try the liquid smoke for the next batch-that sounds intriguing. I really enjoy the creaminess of this recipe, which is one thing I liked about dairy brie. And my husband (who is veg but not vegan) loved it, too, so double score. Happy Tuesday!

I waited too long to stock up on holiday chocolates (cella's chocolate covered cherry cordials, chocolate oranges, chocolate mints) and I've been moping for a couple weeks, but this morning I unwrapped huge quantities of all of those. And more. Best candy haul ever. From my boyfriend. He also got me heart shaped cookie cutters, and some biscuits cutters. And a front rack for my bike.
We unwrapped gifts, watched Hugo, and then played Carcassonne and Pandemic with friends, while eating noochy popcorn with tamari.

Terrific, low key Christmas.

Still in bed, but I need to get up and help my mom peel 8 pounds of taters, 3 pounds of brussels sprouts and 2 pounds of carrots to feed my dad's family. Thank the lard I am a fast peeler.

I'm supposed to be going to a 2nd day of Christmas thing with my partner's family, but I'm suddenly all barfy! And I made pastichio from Vegan Eats World. I'm going to be chilling at home today nursing my stomach until it's well enough to eat the pastichio that won't be making it to the party. Waaaah!
