Hey guys.

So I don't know how familiar you guys are with the Engine Shed in Edinburgh Scotland.

I want to bring one to Canada....Vancouver particularly.

I want it to work with people with addictions, developmental delays....etc.

It would be vegan obviously, fair trade and organic too. But most importantly, it would help people get meaningful, enjoyable employment.

My sister is currently at this limbo state where she has no social programs, school or anywhere really to go. It's possible she could get a really shitty job with someone paid to supervise her (thus giving her busy work but not actually making money).

We need something like this.

Anyways....more research to be done.....but any thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions? Resumes? Hehehe.

I have nothing helpful to add, but as an Engine Shed customer, I can tell you that I think this is a great idea. There should be more places like it everywhere.

I know there are programs like this in the US too and I'd be interested to hear from people who know more about them here. I know one of my friends who is an art teacher knows another art teacher who has a program where people with Down's syndrome learn to make and sell pottery.

There's the camphill community too, although they have some odd religious ideas based on why people are disabled in this life.
