Husband was wearing a Go Vegan T-shirt in Wal-mart (I know, he deserves this for wearing it there) Some disgusting animal murdering idiot said "Go vegan? I eat vegans!"
Best reasonable response, anyone?

I wouldn't have said anything in that particular situation (I generally don't want to talk to random strangers), but when people say something mean-spirited about veganism in a social setting, I've taken to ruining their attempt at humor by asking the lamest questions possible. So if they tell me they're a member of People Eating Tasty Animals, I ask them who their treasurer is. If they say "Vegan means 'bad hunter' in [whatever language]," I ask them for more information about the dietary habits of [people who speak whatever language]. They usually shut up, because a 'joke' loses steam when it needs to be explained.
