As of today, since February 24, 2013, I have missed only six days at the gym. That's six days over the last two and a half years—30 months to the day.

I am someone who has struggled all my life with a lack of motivation and ambition (when I wasn't failing to fight it altogether), and I did something nearly every single forking day that I really did not. want. to do. at all.

There are some things in my life I have had tremendous discipline about, but there have been (and continue to be) far too many things where I just... kind of... slide. I'll do it... later. Or never. Whatever.

Even if I never go to the gym again, no one can take this away from me. Two and a half years. Every day but six. Tomorrow, I'll go back to flopping and flailing. But for today, I am the champion!

Congrats! That is unbelievable and pretty much impossible for me to imagine considering I've missed all of the past like 800 days.

Congratulations! I've no brags of my own to contribute (although I can contribute Bragg's), so I'll just say "great job!"

dang. Do you go to classes or kind of do your own thing? I think the class thing is a halfway motivation cheat cause you just go and they tell you what to do. Left to my own devices I would just row machine for like 10 minutes and wander off.

Impressive! That's a lot of hard work, and determination, and cake. (I hope you ate cake, or did something to treat yourself, for every time you made it to the gym.)

That is really impressive!

After 2.5 years, are there things that you've started to like about it? I mean, besides getting to the The Champion?

No. I don't like it. It's boring and hard. Well, I guess I like knowing that I can do it even though it's boring and hard.

Wow! I'd like to blame my missing-the-gym thing on the fact that they close at 6 on Sat/Sun an I generally work til 5, so at best I could squeak in 40 minutes on an elliptical, so I just don't bother. But...I didn't go today because I have cramps.

But I do classes generally, so I get the motivation cheat of it.

I only do 30 minutes a day. Sometimes a little less. Very rarely a little more. But that's enough to turn me into a sweat monster.

30 mins. is a great amount of time to shoot for. When I get all riled up about starting a new gym routine, I completely overdo it (making up for lost time, I guess) and it never sticks longer than a week.

We are saving up for a treadmill for the winter after being snowed in for about 3 months last year. I aiming for 20-30 minutes a day, post-work, pre-dinner. Since it will take 0 minutes to drive somewhere and only 2 minutes to change clothes, plus I will get warm instead of freezing sweating and then freezing sweat; I have few excuses.

That is truly amazing, Footie! Usually when people talk about how often they go to the gym, I end up feeling kind of guilted and then get annoyed. People are always talking about how if you go enough you'll learn to love it and you'll miss it and I just... I never really got there. But this - THIS actually kind of motivates me? I mean, I love you for saying that even after all this time you still don't like it, and you go anyway. You're my fitness hero.

All of this. Congratulations on sticking with it and being awesome in yet another way!
