If it's true we should probably just all give up on veganism, right?

an admittedly lazy search turned up one false assertion of this on another veg board that arose from someone misreading/misquoting a march 2007 veg times article (the article said kikkoman sweet and sour sauce contained carmine and mentioned isinglass in relation to something else) and a vegan blogger who said a japanese restaurant said their soy sauce had fish in it. the blogger said it was from isinglass, but there weren't any sources cited, so it's possible that the restaurant just put something fishy in their sauce. that happens.

where are you hearing it, adam? it seems so unlikely to me, but i guess it could happen. i would laugh and laugh and laugh if it were true, after reading all those ingredient lists a dozen times between the store and my kitchen to make sure i was keeping my vegan karma strong.

I tried to embed this but failed. The How It's Made segment on soy sauce. Not that it answers the question, but it's still neat.

I'm so annoyed if that is true. Like so annoyed that I just don't know what to say.

I'm gonna go ahead and give up in advance, just to be on the safe side. BRB, pouring a cheese bath.
