Was alone at new job for the first time tonight. It went well. Only a minor anxiety attack. Now freaking out with "did I turn the lights off? Did I lock the door? Some other big problem?" But I know I did everything. JUST ACCEPT YOU DIDN'T SCREW UP AND GO TO SLEEP.

Got to have a lengthy chat with one of my favorite friends! And I went to an omni dinner (spouse's work event) and no one called me on the fact that I wasn't eating anything but hummus and bread.

It's finally warm enough outside (-7C right now!) to have my window open while I'm studying! It really energizes me and I think that I work so much better and more efficiently when I can smell the fresh air.

I'm eating girl scout cookies for the first time in like 9 years thanks to b.vicious! Also my last class got out early (professor was very clear that it was absolutely because of Valentine's day) but that also just got me home to cookies faster. YAY.

Came home from work to a heart shaped cake pan on the counter. Mr Moon had intended to bake me a heart shape cake, and tried to find a recipe but didn't know what to use as egg substitute. I so love that he tried :)
Then we talked about v'con dessert recipes and he said "actually, some of them looked really good" and the little vegan Mr Burns in my head tented his hands and said "exxxceellllleeennnnntt"

I have a random houseguest here (friend from high school's boyfriend is interviewing for a grad program at my school) and he's leaving tomorrow so I can go back to my cherished late nights of sitting on the couch chain watching television programs for far longer than I should or reading entire 400 page novels in one sitting (I have a studio so I feel like I can't keep this dude up).
AND I ordered a variety pack of upton's seitan from vegan cuts and I want it to come right now. I can't wait for that dang bacon.

This is from yesterday, but the response I got from Nike regarding a pair of running shoes delighted me. Quote: Hi Nichole, It is awesome that you are practicing a responsible lifestyle! My Fiancee stopped eating meat a little over three months ago and she is working at removing all animal products from her diet. I understand that you want to make sure your purchases follow your moral code. After searching my resources, it appears that NIKE Zoom Structure+ 16 does not contain any animal derived products. The Running and Cross Training shoes are great places to find vegan friendly shoes., as shoes that are designed to be lightweight will usually not include full grain leather or suede. If you allow me 3-5 business days, I will work with my team to do additional research to help ensure the shoe does not contain animal products. Please let me know if you have any questions. If not, I will contact you with the additional information I receive after working with my team. Best Wishes, Davidson Nike.com View Nike's online privacy policy at http://help-all.nike.com/app/answers/de ... ocal/en_us

^Thanks for posting that, nd. I need new runners soon and it's good to know what's vegan. Actually, I find that most running shoes are now, at least the folks at the Running Room tell me. Very few use real leather anymore. I always say to only fit me with shoes made without animal products when at the shop.

Nike has been very good about getting back to me. I checked about the Lunarglide 4, and they vegan friendly as well. Typically synthetic materials weigh less than leather, so are preferred for running shoes. I will say that my favorite real running shoes are Brooks though, and all of their running shoes are vegan (unless they changed; the Addiction walking shoes are not vegan). http://talk.brooksrunning.com/2008/10/14/vegan-shoes-oryes-our-running-shoes-are-vegan-too/

I was having a lot of problems with my ankles but they seem to be the only ones that don't aggravate it.

My best thing is I found out today I'm getting an award through work. Like a big reward. With a cash bonus. I wasn't expecting it so it is definitely good news.

That's awesome, linanil!! Congratulations!
(I'm wearing the lunarglides right now! I got them for casual wear and love them.)

Getting my new cast-iron pan! I'm anemic (veganism aside) and I have no idea why I waited until now to get one--I've nicknamed him Tony Stark, and sing the Iron Man song when I use it: "duh duh Iron Pan duhnuhnuhnuhnuhnuhnuh Iron Paaan"

I love having moments when you just feel like you're a kid again. I'm 22 and in grad school, and my day today was split between actually getting some work done, and playing with the iMakeFace app and working on a puzzle.

My feet are always cold, like SO cold, so my boyfriend bought me these $30 pair of (vegan! and organic!) socks that are supposed to be the warmest and most comfortable socks ever. I wore them to bed last night and my footsies are so toasty and happy.
It's the little things! Even if they cost thirty bones.
