The guy in front of me at the coffee place paid for my drink! That's totally never happened to me! I'm actually excited to pay it forward.

Found out that my uni is now selling vegan pasties at the campus shop. Tried one today and it was very tasty - perfect to grab for lunch between lectures and will keep me going till dinner. They do also sell a falafel wrap that's vegan and have for a long time, but pastry is so much more exciting!

Just put in an application for a room in a 5 bedroom house with some chill people that I don't actually know but seem pretty cool! I don't want to live with my friends because I feel like that could lead to all sorts of politics (as it has in the past). Super happy to have housing potentially sorted out. (6 months in advance, thanks landlords)

My daughter was in a play about looking beyond gender and it was just amazing!

It was yesterday, the Mr & I took five 9/10 your olds to the open farm. They have a corridor of goats, aaaaaaaall different sizes, along both sides. They know you might bring them food, so they go frigging mad when you walk down. The big ones climb half over the bars and tap you on the shoulders with their hoofs and when you spin round to see what it is, the tiny ones at the other side nibble at your trousers and boots to see if they're tasty. It was hilarious being in there with the kiddos.

It was written by her class mates and it revolved around Sam (a MtF transgendered person) and her relationship with her girlfriend Jessica after Sam told Jessica that she was transgendered. In between acts the character Jo (a MtF transgendered person, played by my daughter) would do monologues about her childhood and finding belonging. The crux of the play was that we need to look beyond gender and look at the person. I could offer criticisms, but the bottom line is that for kids all under 19, they really had a good grasp of a lot of hard issues and dealt with them really well. They even made sure there was a counselor person if anyone was triggered. The whole thing was done really well.

Free virtual samosas for all the PPK. Dimma makes the best samosas. choirqueer wrote: No fair, you don't even like Indian food! She should send me homemade samosas! Samosas don't count as Indian food they are too delicious. Today's best thing which I can confidently say despite it being 8am: samosas for breakfast.

They are doing a kickstarter for a conference they want to do. So it may end up on-line.

WOAH, so, all kinds of good news in the past ~24 hours. Yesterday I found out that I won first prize in the contest associated with an undergrad literary journal, which involves free money, publication, and the opportunity (well, it's mandatory) to read several poems at an event in May. I emailed a professor about it, since he's the one who encouraged me to submit in the first place, and he wants to sponsor me to present at a kinda-big-deal-ish conference at the university in April. Um. Yay.

Downton Abbey. I don't watch normally tv, but I just got netflix because I missed watching documentaries. As I browsed around the site I saw DA, remembered hearing good things about it, and watched the first two episodes. I LOVE it! I'm excited to have 2 seasons to catch up on.

I've broken into a bag of artichokes I bought from a farm stand. The farm stand was somewhere between Monterey and Santa Cruz, CA, where you can see countless acres of artichoke fields. It was wonderful to see where all the prized artichokes of the US come from. For the record, they look like some crazy alien plant when grown. You could look at the very plants from which they were cut. They're the best artichokes I've ever tasted. I'm not even dipping them in anything. I can't stop eating them. I'm under a serious work deadline, but this is making it so much better.
