yesterday was such a great day!
I drove up to see my best friend and we went out for South Indian food (my favorite!), went to a beautiful garden full of flowers, and then went on a beautiful hike full of wildflowers and oak trees and shimmery grass and deer and lizzards and sunshine and beauty. Then we went back to her place and played games with her awesome little daughter. It was all around great.

Today I slept in and am being lazy, which I hardly ever do. It feels pretty awesome. Plus, our doggies are snuggling each other in the sunshine

4.5 years ago I did a skydiving course and didn't jump since then.

Yesterday I made a jump with an instructor and though the jump wasn't that great I got cleared for solo skydiving.
Made my first jump ever without an instructor yesterday and another one today.

But it's not the skydiving that was the best thing of my day. The best thing was noticing how I've changed in the time between my training 4.5 years ago and today.

This is so good cause back then I chose the skydiving as a starting point for the changes I made and I feel so much better and feel like I've kind of almost completed my journey.

My bike ride was tough, coming after hill repeats yesterday, but it turned out that today is happy duck day. SO many happy ducks splishing around in puddles and streams all along my ride.

Looking at slides with my guy at his place was definitely today's best thing. I was having horrid cramps and he was trying to make me feel better by distracting me and being sweet. He's not at all a nurturing type, so it was cute that he did anything besides ask me if I'd taken any ibuprofen and letting me lounge around on his couch all day (I wasn't going to leave until I felt better, it's a 40 minute trip home on public transport).

And yep, slides. We had to hold them up to the window to see the tiny images. They were from his HS art class. It made it more fun than looking at any other form of pictures.

The amount of flab I've lost is roughly equivalent in weight to two large (but not alarmingly so) newborns! Well done me. I've still got a few kilos to go, maybe equivalent to a small adult male cat.

Hurrah!

Even in the last 2 years! V-E, I'm so impressed by you -- and I'm so happy you were able to make the changes you wanted, and that you're so happy with them. (And that you survived your solo jumps! Because, dude.)

Sunshine! And a two week experiment** with daily ashtanga! Which means it's warm, and I]m warm. Which means I totally bought a pint of amazing coconut milk-vanilla-matcha ice creamz on my way home from work.

** Seriously! Organized by my university's psychology and medical faculties. I have a participant id and have to fill out forms and shiitake, and in exchange I get 2 weeks of free (but early) intensive yoga classes with one of my favorite teachers. So awesome.

That sounds SO AWESOME! A yoga studio I've started going to offers $10 community classes (1 hr long) at 6:30 am, and I went today, and it is an amazing way to start the day. The teacher that I really like does it on Mondays, so I'm going to try to go regularly.

That was probably the best part of my day today. It's been a pretty good day overall though so far, and I'm thankful for that.

Ginny Messina's tweeter feed. She's great. This is from a few days ago but I don't keep up with tweeter too much. "Looking for a way to detox? Just breathe, poop, and pee. That's all it takes. And it's free, too!"

Thank goodness for Ginny Messina! She is one of the voices of reason in the crazy, crazy vegan blogosphere.

The newish person in charge of buying library stock went with my suggestions for getting VCIYCJ and AFR into our main library, which I'm profoundly grateful for because he seems really overworked and I wasn't sure he was going to take any notice and also cos most of the other vegan cookbooks there are a bit shiitake.
And then my boyfriend bought me a box of gianduja.

So glad to hear you're feeling better! Tummy bugs are no fun!

We had the most beautiful day at Branch Brook Park, playing in the cherry blossoms after a long breakfast of vegan stuffed French Toast at Rutherford Pancake House. It was wonderful.
