I have an interview for a job in Austin! With an engineering firm. It's a phone interview and I'm not sure how many of those they give, but I'm SUPER EXCITED and now I really want to move to Austin. Also this is the first interview I've had for a job that is like a real adult job and pays decently and has benefits. Eep.

I just had my post-teaching observation review for GED. They observed me teaching a few weeks ago. All they did was say what a great job I'm doing! They didn't have a single thing to say that wasn't 100% glowing and positive, not even a "but you should/could..." just a "keep doing exactly what you are doing."

They said they loved how all my students were fully engaged, obviously happy to be in class, and how I have such a great rapport with them all.

I feel so great after hearing all that.

Getting off early from work and being able to see the sun! And my guy asking me to stay over. It's nice to be thought about.

"how are you today sir?"
"well I have toilet paper and margarine, it's gonna be a good day"
<awkward silence and wry smile while finishing payment>
"you uhhhh you enjoy the rest of your big day then"

awkwardly awesome

nyc is accepting all rigid plastics for curbside recycling! no more maintaining three separate piles of recyclables! no more hauling my shopping bag of #5 containers into manhattan on the subway! no more guilt when the coop rejects my #1 plastic because it isn't clean enough! this will free up so much space in my kitchen! i can't believe how happy i am.

From yesterday, which was really nice overall, it had to be two cellists in the train station. They played "Keep Your Head Up" by Andy Grammer, and it was superb. And these teen boys came down the stairs in front of them and one said, "Look at these guys rockin' out! That's what life is all about. If I had money, I'd give you $500."

I finished a skirt today. The fabric is beautiful - I coveted it on Spoonflower for weeks before I bought it:

Image

I originally made the fabric into a dress, short puff-sleeved with a Peter Pan collar, but I've only worn it once and figured I'd get more wear out of a skirt, especially as the fabric is so pretty. The tentacles come up from the hemline. The colours aren't as intense in real life, more of a charcoal grey in the background, and I've sewn sequins onto the air bubbles. It's made into an EGL bell-shaped skirt with an integrated ruffled underskirt. I couldn't get the half-elasticated waistline to work but improvised with a tie and it's perfect.

That is lovely fabric. Show us photos of the skirt!

I just went for a 9.5 km run. It's my first run that's been over 5km! I'm really impressed with myself!

I just had a couple of delicious cuties, and got done reading this:

And now I feel devastated and determined at the same time. I cried at my desk too which oddly felt good.

god, why did I read that at work? now it's taking everything i have not to cry at my desk. but good thing - it's making me get off my butt and find a place to volunteer, so that's a plus!

also, today was a day I could have justin's pb cups at lunch! (I try to limit myself to once or twice a week instead of every day since they're expensive)

Thanks!

I had the interview today and it was fine. They seemed a little hesitant about hiring someone from far away, but I totally want to move from NC to Austin. I'm hoping they'll get over it so I can go to Texas and eat lots of Tex-Mex food. They totalls want my geospatial analysis skills.

I didn't do anything embarrassing, though. Which is a plus.

ANYWAY BEST THING TODAY: handing in master's thesis paper!!!!!!!
