It's a public holiday in the UK, so I had the day off work. I got to lie in, then had lunch with my mum before going shopping. And the weather was glorious. Very nice, laid-back day (and I have the finale of The Following to watch tonight!).

I finally made a video of Snoopy playing fetch. He is so damned cute.
Today is our Snoopaversary! We adopted him 6 years ago today, which I guess means he is about 10 years old.
Pretty frisky for a little guy who was paralyzed in all 4 legs 5 months ago!!!

I followed that recipe verrry loosely. I didn't bother with the blender. I just mashed up about 6 jalapeno slices (though my numb drunk-ish mouth wished I'd used more) with a knife, used 1 1/2 tbs of the jalapeno juice, a dash of paprika, chili powder, and garlic salt, and chopped up a little onion finely into it. So damn good!! I'll definitely be making it again.

After an email from one of my managers in Seattle who said she stepped down from the role but that they were fully staffed and had no positions, I emailed the current manager (who was a co-manager with the former manager) - she emailed me back and said she would love to have me back and will be posting new positions this week. I can't wait to move back - for once and all. I'm never moving ever. ever. again.

What a relief! I hope you are fulfilled by the position when you get back. I think you're brave for trying something new, but also very wise to know when it's not right.

I got my hairs cut!

A year and half ago I had a mock interview with this woman who later emailed me to say that she thought bangs make my face look small and I should consider other hairstyles, which sent me into this spiral of self doubt and I grew the bangs out.

But I like them and now I have them back. I didn't even like her hair, really. I don't know why I listened.

Yesterday was lovely. I went shopping and bough (more!) makeup and a skirt. Then we had a barbecue because the weather was amazing. Then I went to salsa and had 2 great classes and lots of dances in freestyle afterwards. I finally got up the balls to do the advanced class and I didn't fall over, whoop!

Taking a break from working at home today and lying out in a hammock in the sunshine reading a book, with a cat snoozing nearby in the garden.

Today I found hope in the face of creeping sadness with my recent break up. I haven't been real sad, just lonely. I'm ot used to being alone, so reading a very good blog article about it really set my spirits high again. :)

Someone at work who I think is cute says she got mistaken for me in a vegetarian restaurant across the road from our building - still not quite sure why she's so sure it was definitely me they mistook her for, but it was someone vegan because the tried to stop her ordering something they thought was unsuitable for her-as-supposedly-me. I love that place!

Also good: being given an extra 3-hour shift this afternoon, which pays for my friend's birthday present (I got her tiny loaf pans! Shh, don't tell her!), taking my faulty tablet back to the shop and they're going to sort it out even though it's beyond the initial 21 days no-quibble period, and eating a really excellent humus and mango chutney roll.

My boyfriend and I paid our first visit to the grocery store that is nearest the house we just bought. It's a brand new store, just a mainstream grocery store, but it's HUGE. There is literally a 30-foot wall of just ice cream. Every possible brand of ice cream you could want, except NO non-dairy ice cream to be seen, and I couldn't find any tofu or soymilk either. So I was a bit annoyed and figured we probably wouldn't go there much, but then we wandered around some more and found a pretty large section of the store devoted to organic stuff, vegan stuff...they have Daiya AND FYH, they have Veganaise, they have natural cleaning and bath products and recycled paper towels, they have tons of vegan ice cream, Gardein stuff...It's pretty amazing and totally made my day. We used to have to drive at least 20 minutes to the Whole Foods to get that stuff, and now it's all like three minutes away! They sell beer in the store too (we're in PA which has idiotic liquor laws, so being able to buy beer at the same time as the groceries is cause for celebration)! I think it's a good sign that a large mainstream grocery store is carrying so much vegan/organic product. I used to consider myself lucky if I could find tofu at a store like that.
