My best is that I gave a presentation for this project I have sunk a super amount of time into (and which I loved very dearly) and despite some mishaps, it really wasn't terrible.

Bonus: last presentation for the semester.

i just finished the most ridiculous project in the tightest deadline. i didn't do as good a job as i'd have liked to, but it is a killer and going to knock them out of the water anyway.

This project, back in my "real job" days, would have taken me a month. I did it in about a week, and one of emotional desolation at that.

Holy shiitake, I can't believe I'm done.

[no miller time, i have two translations for tomorrow.......]

Well done, torque.

I'm tied - 1. My dentist was a total sweetheart and even though the bit of my front tooth which I chipped off wasn't the actual filling he did previously he replaced the chip under the 1 year guarantee anyway so all I had to pay for was a check up fee! This was a big relief.

2. I made chutney for the first time ever (with rhubarb from my garden, and dried fruit that was near or past its use by), and I didn't burn myself or explode any glass jars while I was sterilising them! Next stop: jam!

Canning is scary to me, too. Nice job!

I had this big responsibility at work planning a visit for VIPS to observe my colleagues and me. It went off smoothly and my boss gave me (much needed) compliments.

Bad: I drove 50 minutes for a final that took me three minutes to complete.

Best: It was my last final for my degree! Since I'm not walking on graduation day, this is the most momentous occasion I could get!

I might have a temporary job solution, which will make me feel ok about quitting the worst job ever. The temp job will only last a few days, but the money, added to what I have, should get me through to early July if I am careful (hopefully, I will find something else first, though.) I am so relieved.

You can totally high-five me! I'm not walking on purpose. It's not really a thing I'd enjoy. Of course, a couple weeks after the deadline to get cap & gown passed, my department asked me to be the undergrad marshal. I don't even know what that is. I felt kind of bad turning them down because it's a very small department, but what the shiitake?

I'm kind of trying not to be materialistic, but I'm pretty excited about the Shun santoku my boyfriend got me as a graduation gift. I want to chop up all of the things!

i just turned over my keyboard and gave it a whack (as i do every day or so, lots of crumbs) and what fell out?

the usual enough-food-remains-to-survive-the-zombie-apocalypse, but also a bunch of rhinestones?? the computer is apparently doing drag shows when i'm not here!

[also, my office is so messy that it brought back a memory: the Ground Round, the old restaurant where there was sawdust on the floor and you got to throw popcorn and peanut shells at movies being projected on the walls {before they turned it into a sports bar or whatever it is now}. when i was a kid we went there all the time and it was AWESOME. anybody else remember this place? my office floor is just as dirty right now!]

ETA: today just gets better and better: a line from the current translation:
Inspection of this property was conducted by the consultant XXXX; he was accompanied by a Mr. Elvis, who is responsible for the supervision and management of the farms.

baaaaah!

I remember going to Ground Rounds. Not very often as we had to drive far to get to one.

I remember going to Ground Round as a kid. Even back then I thought it was awful, before I had a discerning palate.

unless my memory is insane, at the ground round we went to you had to be under a certain weight to get a kid's meal? or something, but there was a scale and after you got weighed you got a balloon, and i wanted the balloon but i didn't want to get on the scale, so it was kind of stressful. and i don't think we were allowed to throw stuff on the floor (or maybe my mom just said we weren't). but the movies were good and the crayons were good, and i think the rolls were good. B+.

i don't remember that part but i was a fat kid and i probably blocked it out due to trauma!!
[i have no memory of what the food was so i bet it was pretty bad.... i do remember that you sat on benches that even to a little kid were too narrow to be comfortable on your butt.]

This thread slipped to page 2. This should not be.

This weekend is shaping up pretty good. I went to a furniture/art/design show at this design/build collective shop around the corner from my house, where my friend works. His piece that was in the show, as well as his boss's pieces that my friend also worked on, were great, free good beer and mini gin cocktails from my favorite cocktail bar, saw friends I expected and friends I didn't expect to see. Plus I got to see tons of people's work spaces, which is always interesting and inspiring. The whole shop as well as the event were tons bigger than I expected and it was an awesome night.

Especially good because I went to bed in a bad mood Thursday night that totally carried over into me being in a weird funk all day yesterday at work. Sometimes the idea of big social gatherings when I'm feeling icky makes me feel more anxious, but its really awesome when being social makes me feel better about life instead.

Today I'm just enjoying a kind of pleasantly chilly spring day, lazin around listening to the radio and drinking delicious coffee. Gonna go examine all the seedlings in a few moments. Puttering Saturdays are one of my favorite things.

Tonight my bff is having a party, and just a few blocks away will be a big public art thing with bike parade and mobile bike sculptures, and a big white orb floating on the lake that I think will become home to a shadow puppet show? Art art art. And friends. Sometimes that's all I need.

millet made great green manure, loosened up a big nasty clay garden bed. asparagus babies are being planted this afternoon when the sun is down a bit more.

Somewhere in the middle of his marathon drunk texting session, Boyfiend told me the following:

Quote:
May as well say it now: am in love with you.

Felt you should be aware.

Thought I would spell it out

My memory is that you paid a cent per pound for kids on certain days. My dad always took us there on his custody night because it was crazy cheap to eat with a bunch of kids. I think all of them went out of business here.
