I treated myself to a chai this morning. I really love them and I know I can make it at home, but it is so nice to have someone at the shop make me one and for some reason theirs is better than mine. I haven't had one out in over a month... I decided that only a very rare coffee shop treat can fit into my budget and I'm proud of myself for sticking with that.

So I'm drinking it very slowly to make it last as long as possible!

I've been visiting my parents this week and my mum grows fruit and veg on an allotment. This morning she'd been out to it before I was even up and picked me SO MUCH STUFF! There are pounds and pounds of redcurrants, gooseberries, worcesterberries, some raspberries, plus several courgettes (zucchini), and she gave me pickles and chutneys she's made, and a mixed fruit jam that's so thick it's like a fruit cheese, and artichoke hearts she's frozen. I feel RICH!

I'm delivering a cat to his new home today and while I'm glad he has a new home he's one of my favorites and I will miss him. Enough I'm quite teary eyed over it and hope I don't cry at his adopters house.

Aww that's sweet blondiefk. I take it you foster cats? If so, I'm glad one was able to find a permanent home! :)

Today I woke up and made a German Chocolate Cake for my mom's boyfriend. She offered to just buy a cake for his birthday, but if she did then I wouldn't get to eat any! It's sitting in the fridge now and I can't wait to try it!

Picking blackberries with my sweetie and making Grandma [biker boy's last name]'s blackberry cobbler. (Which is actually a buckle, but don't try telling biker boy that. Grandma, may she rest in peace, called it a cobbler, end of story.) Whatever, it's delicious and biker boy and I veganized it the first summer we were together. This is the third August of berry picking and cobbler making, so I think it's officially a tradition, right?

I had a super awesome morning with my fella and my pets. We had coffee and waffles and a nectarine, and we listened to nice music, and the pets were happy and so were we.

I went to the orthopedist on Thursday and they removed my cast (best thing about Thursday). Since then I am getting used to my aircast, which is removable and looks like a Stormtrooper leg (best thing about Saturday). Today I got my nerve up and drove for the first time since June 15th. Two five minute stretches. And it was ok! Happyhappyhappy.

Fruit layered over cake batter so that when it bakes it rises up through the fruit layer and buckles over.

Is that just another word for cobbler? Sounds like the same thing to me... Interesting. I bet it's good no matter what you call it.

Cobbler has the crust on top and it's more biscuity versus cakey. All varieties of fruit with doughy something-or-other baked together into deliciousness are good!

Last week was awesome: I made so many random connections with wonderful people (eg met a girl from my hometown near SF on the train from NL to Berlin; we became conference buddies --- later on, I met one of my close friends from high school whom I hadn't seen for 11 years), survived a giant conference, got awesome feedback on my research, ate at amazing Berlin restaurants (Sfizy! Ohlala!), snuggled with Nature Boy, and am now in Warsaw wiht my dad and babcia, getting ready to go to the mountains for a week. Rock on, world!

My aunt gave me €10 contribution to petrol for my car. I feel like a millionaire now. I did have €2 to do me until payday on Thursday now I have enough to buy milk and some fruit. The joys of a major recession.

Also getting €40 from my cousin tomorrow that she owes me. That's to buy me a new dress for the hen party I have to go to next week. Also getting two weeks rent tomorrow so that's my hair cut and spending money for the hen weekend. Could get used to this roommate thing!

I must get this. I just tried the white cheddar (or whatever it is) EB popcorn and it was super good.

September 17th!! We get there on the 14th so it's perfect timing. I've been checking their tour dates page for a UK date for what seems like forever!

My previous job, which I loved, emailed me saying that they're opening my position again and I can bypass selection if I want to reapply. Unfortunately, I have to sign a slip on a letter sent by HR - which has not arrived yet. Still... yay!

If you haven't seen this yet, it will be the best part of your day too:

So so so fun. Colbert is the best. As is Matt Damon. And Jeff Bridges. Omg.

Just spoke with a reporter at length about the phone stalker at my work and the SFPD not doing their job by enforcing a harrassment order. I'm a little nervous about publicly shaming the police, but also happy that this is going to get attention, because for every woman like me, there are several more less privileged women facing even more serious threats from an unhinged individual and who are not getting the type of responsive protection the police are supposed to provide.
