Yay for everyone's goodnesses!!! <3 <3 <3

I just got back from a lovely lunch with girlfriends and one who gardens gave me a big bag with a bunch of glorious tomatoes, some bok choy, a watermelonish zucchini (it's huge! it's seriously about the size of a football only a bit more narrow) and sprigs of fresh basil, parsley and rosemary fresh from her garden. Cookins' acomin'!

Happy for ya!

Went to the dietician this morning to check up on my low-carb livin' situation and apparently, I have lost 9 pounds since this began (which I can totally see in the mirror). And I don't even feel like killing myself thinking about my next low carb meal. Also, no hypoglycemic issues in the past week at all. The dietician was full of praise, especially when I described a day when I brought something for lunch that seemed gross and inedible once it was microwaved and then made the best decision possible about an alternative and stayed on track. So, yay me for sticking with it. And I am now allowed fruit because I am awesome!

Yay you indeed. Nine pounds is not too shabby. Now I'm off to look up vegan low carb, just because.

I got a message on a dating site, saying she thought I look sympathetic and as some one who likes good food and she wanted to meet for having an ice-cream together.
(I use the same picture there as here)

We exchanged a couple of messages and it looks like I have a date on Sunday :)

Hurrah Veg-Eric!

Congratulations Ariann!

And I realize I am on the PPK too much, because when I read this:

I forgot that AP's cat is Bill Murray! And the song is finished now so I have no room for a reference to cat Bill Murray.

Ha, I was going to ask the same thing! "Actor, or ap's cat?"

Congrats on being awesome enough for fruit, Ariann!

today at the rescue I had to "round up" a blue and yellow macaw and a psycho cockatoo, who had both somehow gotten out of their cages and were at large harassing other birds. (there are probably over 100 birds). I was able to get both back in their proper locations without losing any fingers or needing a transfusion, which is a pretty big deal. these were both LARGE and not very friendly birds and I didn't realize how afraid i was until after i got them both settled.
(then i got bit by a lorikeet, the little mustard)

and then Rita's ices this afternoon. who knew italian ice was so good? (no TCBY yet)

I got to spend almost $3,000 of someone else's money on basically whatever I wanted (for work) today. :D

We just might have every color of velvet ribbon that was available.

I love ordering stuff for work, especially summer scheme stuff. I buy googly eyes with taxpayer money!

God, I'm old. I only saw them once in 1996. I did see Billie Joe in American Idiot for Valentine's Day one year and on the way my SO proposed in Times Square.

Now I want to go see them again.

OMG that's so rad! Both getting to see them in '96 and seeing Billie Joe in American Idiot, I saw it when it was touring here but not with him in it!!

I love that your partner proposed on V-Day on your way to see American Idiot! My dude and I got together because of Green Day and we're in the Bullet in a Bible dvd together!

Was it at Brixton Academy? I'm watching that from two nights ago on YouTube.

I bought myself a new pillow for sleeping - it's very nice, has this wonderful, already broken in feeling - like a feather pillow without feathers.

jean, glad to hear you have something nice and new for yourself! hugs!

My best thing was climbing outside in NH. I climbed harder outdoors than I ever have and did a bit of sport climbing. I wish we'd have set a few more easy climbs for my guy, but he tried the harder ones and had a good time. Next time I'll be sure we pick some climbs that are more his level (his TR level is my sport level so it works well, I set, he cleans). I think he'd enjoy it more if we'd stuck with ones that he could get to the top of and I'm always just happy to be outside.

I love it too, so I turned it into a job! Now I get to buy cool new wines all the time. Summer's the best when all the rosés are released. Also love buying office supplies. I get unnaturally excited about sharpies, binders and file folders.

My best thing: the other buyer has been on medical leave for a month. Today was her first day back. I missed her so much!

NatureBoy is here with me this weekend. He's spending the afternoon with his dad (who lives 15 mins away) --- apparently cycling around the lake & etc., because I was just doing that, zooooooming and zipping around, and he came up behind me and put his hand on my lower back to say hi as he and his dad zipped past. (They are so cute together! Both 2m tall on giant bikes, going super fast.)

Another awesome thing: Comfortably talking to my Italian friend in Italian. When we started volunteering together a year ago at Embracing the World (the NGO in my sig), I was really shy to do so, and could only do so if "my brain was working". Flash forward a year, now we can talk all the time & about anything in Italian (great for me!) or English (great for her!) and also practice Dutch with each other. Polyglot life is great!
