I got to hang out with my grandma tonight. She is beyond awesome. I love that she can go from talking about the job she had in 1935 to her sister singing in a club to her opinions on the royal family. (She prefers William to Harry because Harry seems too wild.)

But Harry is so good looking!

ETA: And also I watched a documentary years ago where he had gone to Lesetho and worked in orphanages for little kids who had been orphaned by and/or had HIV/AIDS including and he was so sweet and lovely with the kids and really seemed committed to making positive changes in their lives including, I think, committing to providing funding enough for meds and education for a couple little ones he'd especially bonded with. He won my heart then and he will forever be the best prince in my eyes. But I mean, William's okay too, I guess

Grandma died, and even though I'd been expecting it for awhile (and even hoping for it, to ease her pain), I'm still shocked by how ungrounded I am. And how much I miss the family rituals (like, tea and remembering grandma together; sharing stories; puttering about the house lost together while forgetting-or-remembering to walk the dog). I've done a few quiet things here, but nothing feels right. Anyway, vegan neighbors are stepping up and taking care of me. One little boy (9-10 months old) is my personal hugging, snuggling champion, and his mama is making me stew and pasties for a couple of days, because. And that 'because' is today's best thing.

Yay, I'm so glad you've got people on the ground there giving you hugs, snuggles, stew and pasties. Because.

lutin, I am sorry your grandmother died ... it seldom seems to make any diff that we 'expect it' / 'hope for it to relieve them from pain' it still always startles us.

I am pleased you have a small lively person there as well as his mother with her comforting grub.

hug, Anne

The $8000 I was shorted at work might actually come to me after all, in part or in whole. This is the best thing that has happened to me today. There was another best thing, but it seems insignificant now.

Hugs to you, Lutin.

Today was good. Best part was probably our sunset dig walk together along the cliffs. Plus my wonderful 2.5 hour yoga practice with friends. Backbends!!

My mum just told me that she's been dating someone!!!

This is big news because she's been single for a decade even though she's wanted to date, and is totally hot and awesome, she just always kept saying she doesn't know how to date. I kept telling her to try online dating but she didn't believe me that it was 'okay'. Finally one of her sisters convinced her, and she met someone early August and apparently it's been awesome! I'm SO happy for her, having my dad as the last person you've dated in 30 years is not cool! (I love him but he's a totally douchey child when it comes to dating)

Either: Deliciously quiet, sunny woods far away from anyone. (I just wish I'd had 2 pots of tea. I got cold, and had to leave.)
Or: Having twisted my prof's arm into letting me guest lecture in his class tomorrow on my topic, he let me twist his arm into giving the lecture himself, because I can't handle people, because grandma. (Gold star for that prof, for sure, for sure.)

I love my vet! This morning she came into the exam room and the first thing she said was "how's my favorite curmudgeon?" Aw, Molly totally is an adorable old curmudgeon. Molly really likes her, too.

The guy that murdered my great aunt and uncle was found guilty today - on all 20 charges. (There were actually two of them, but the other one had already pled guilty.)

The best part of my day wasn't when I hugged a crush. It was when I realized that he is the perfect hugging height.

Perfect hugging height also means perfect 69ing height.

Wut.

gochujang!! how did i wait so long to discover its awesomeness? i am putting it on everything. it just made up about 30% of my breakfast by volume (japanese breakfast today, don't worry i didn't put it on my cereal, although i bet it would be killer on a bagel....). i predict gochujang to be the new Biscoff Spread of 2013.

Whoa, I had to google that because I'd never heard of it, and I'm about 99% sure I almost bought some of that at the International Market last night (not 100% sure because it didn't have any English writing other than the sticker with the ingredients list), but I wasn't sure what I would use it for. It looks like the only non-vegan thing I might have to look out for would be honey? Anyway, next time I'm at the market I'm definitely picking some up!

OBSESSED over here too. My bf had never had Korean food before (til I made some of the dishes from VEW) and now we are putting that and kimchi on/in everything. Also, we have what we call Japanese breakfast too - for us it's sorta like fried short-grain brown rice with tiny cubes of tofu in it, tons of scallions and whatev veg are laying. Dang I'm craving that right now!
