Washing my hair *with* conditioner for the first time in a month. I broke down and bought some today even though it is one more thing to have to cram in my backpack. But fork it. Since I am blonde and stand out in the crowds and get unwanted attention, I might as well have soft, shiny, tangle-free blonde hair! And it feels good to have nice hair again. That and wine. Wine is my 2nd best thing about today.

Wait, what?! Details details!

Book reading/signing. So by "meet" I mean "stand in front of with my book not saying anything particularly clever or interesting because M Atwood is a little intimidating in her awesomeness." But still.

Yesterday: beautiful wedding of two women I adore, lots of happy tears and the chance to catch up with several old friends and introduce biker boy to some of my favorite people. AND an offer on biker boy's house after 1 day on the market was just the icing on the cake.

My brother proposed to his amazingly great girlfriend last night (on her 40th bday). He has had a really tough time over the years, and she is hands-down the best thing that ever happened to him. Never in our lives have I seen him happier or more at ease than since they started dating. I am so happy for them. So happy.

Oh, you know, just awesomely fantastic. Even with the stress of his house being broken into and making the move permanent and getting his house ready to sell, it's just been easy and comfortable.

Best part of today is that he countered the offer on his house and the buyer has at least verbally accepted the counter offer. We're just waiting for her signature and the house will be sold, pending inspection, in two days!

We had a lovely early Canadian Thanksgiving dinner with my in-laws at our place tonight. They just went on a cruise through Alaska, and my father-in-law was regaling us with stories of the sea lions they saw. He was talking about the male sea lions having to impregnate 8 or 9 women before they're done mating season. "They'd be tired little popcorns!" It was a you-had-to-be-there kind of thing, but my father-in-law's delivery is always hilarious and he is pretty much awesome.

Oh also the food I made was admittedly really freaking amazing. Everyone gobbled everything up and then some. Even my seitan roast!

I'm clearly not on here enough- so exciting! Congrats!!

Today was so lovely. Slept in (sorta. For me.), sexytimes, coffee with the boy, tennis, a lovely curry and watching UK football, some coffee talk with some girlfriends, and just feeling super content.

This sentiment is so sweet. I hope you've expressed this to them both. Congrats!

I got a letter from the local council explaining that as I had an income of over ten thousand pounds a week over the summer, I will not be receiving any housing benefit for that period (it was backdated). Unbelievably, it was sorted out by a simple phone call and me explaining that that is probably more than I earn in a year and I was on jobseekers then anyway as I told the nice man at your offices. Hooray for bureaucrats going "oh, yes that is silly" and "the money will be with you on Friday". I love it when money is with me on Friday.

lots of hugs! many of which are bittersweet, as I'll miss the shiitake out of these people, but I was constantly smiling so wide for having some amazing people in my life that make a place feel like home
