I got my mom's silver iPhone 5S today! I've been faithfully checking the online tool and lucked out today and got it at the store I drive past on my way home.

I'm so excited to give it to her when she gets home. She is upgrading from a 3 and now she can do FaceTime chat with her sister! She will love the pretty retina screen too.

That's awesome! I hope she enjoys it and has good face times with your aunt.

Yeah! She loves it! The camera is nice so she already got some great macaw photos. The burst feature on the camera really works. The 3 had a pretty lousy camera.

I think they will try the FaceTime tomorrow.

Of course, being my mom, she keeps saying she feels bad that she got hers and I don't have mine. She needed it! I got a clear case for it since its such a pretty phone.

Peacefood downtown. They call them chocolate but they have cream in them like Boston cream donuts.

I got my motorcycle title (for my Colombian bike) finally!! Which made me ridic happy at 9am. Then I rode to Ecuador and I'm pretty proud of myself. It was my first time riding alone in S. America and my first border crossing. I barely got lost in the cities and my spanish is improving so I could ask for directions and manage all the border stuff (takes a while with the bike). I rode just over 250km, but I forgot to eat lunch, so I will correct that next time.

Just got a call from a friend of ours who has recently had some hard times with his business ... he sounded upbeat, has something new nearly ready and is coming around later to tell us about it ...

Anne who supports independent business (especially since her husband has one)

Wilson is making dinner. I have waited for this day for so long. It's not anything special, but his food tastes better.

today i bought copious amounts of bagged onions because they were on sale for 33 cents/pound. so i was sorta holding them all like they were a baby, basically. as i was walking home, an elderly woman i passed offered to give me her reusable shopping bags to carry them home! i declined, because i only had a block or so left, but it was such a nice thing to offer.

My aunt's prognosis is good. They think they got all the cancerous cells. She is doing some sort of radio therapy (? I know zip all about cancer treatments and I am so not going to start googling this) and has some recovery time ahead from the surgery, but all in all it seems pretty hopeful.

We are so grateful she was able to get diagnosed and treated so quickly. She has private insurance, so can get what she needs almost instantly. My other aunt doesn't have private and she had to wait months in between her appointments, even while waiting on biopsies. It was so stressful and awful. But, she had ongoing problems and infections the past year--it really seems something should have come up on the earlier cat scans. Scary.

I am begging my mom to get checkups, but she won't. She now has had three siblings get cancer. Two died within months of diagnosis.

I have a new voice teacher. She is the greatest person on the face of the earth. At the end of my lesson, she pulled a container out from her freezer and handed it to me. It is full of tomato cabbage spelt soup. She is not a vegan but she cooks a lot of vegan food, apparently, and since I brought her cookies at my last couple of lessons, she wanted to make something for me.

I'm pretty sure I've found my voice teacher soulmate.

You guys, I had the best day today. I got approximately no work done, but:
-I went apple-picking with two of my favorite people
-when a barista overheard me saying peppermint mochas used to be my jam but are too sweet, she "accidentally" put a pump of peppermint in my plain mocha
-Went hiking with the aforementioned two favorite people
-My best bud adopted a kitten! He's getting to know the apartment now, he's very curious.
So now I'm sitting in my friend's apartment about to (try to) get to work on some book reviews, but really, I'm just feeling pumped on today. :3
