Swimming even though it's 10 degrees and snowing out.

Someone non-veg bought vegan sushi to the potluck I attended. Labelled as such. It was really nice too.

Nick & I were planning to go out tonight but we'd both been out all day so we stayed in and watched Love Actually and played with the cat and ate festive pasties and fancy chocolates instead. It was super lovely!

I'm so glad!! I was thinking about you a lot because your house sounds cold like mine, but I have a fancy space heater that at least keeps my bedroom reasonable. It's an infared deal called an Eden Pure. I don't know that I would have bought it for myself though; it was last years Christmas present, and I am forever grateful.

Well today is still pretty new and it's chore day but yesterday was great! Cedar Row Farm Sanctuary was having a popup shop/bake sale/silent auction. It was a VERY snowy day but I was slated to volunteer and man the silent auction table, so I went out in the snow and it was so lovely. I arrived early and got so many snuggles with their newest piglet, she's brand new/just born and so wiggly and snuggly and cute. She fell asleep in my arms! Then my in-laws and husband came out and I got to show my in-laws around the farm and they loved it and pet turkeys.
After that we went to T.'s work xmas party at his rich boss' house, who is Jewish and brings his Israeli chef nephew in each year to cook a feast, which always includes these AMAZING mini falafels, the best hummus and so many fresh yummy salads with just lemon juice and sea salt. Also the wife made sure there was vegan stuff for us, and even went out and got chocolate brownies from a local vegan bakery. And no one even bothered me about not drinking, which rarely happens!

Aw, thanks ndp. You are so sweet. I'm going to check out that space heater because I really need a good one. I bought some $30 piece of crepe at Target to use in my bedroom at night, but it isn't very effective and doubled my electric bill last month. Not worth it at all. I actually have a good one I keep at work, but if I bring that home, I won't be able to turn my office into a sauna anymore. I like to make it so hot that nobody wants to come inside and bother me.

The hot water bottle is totally great, though! I bought one good enough to handle boiling water, and it keeps my bed nice and warm.

I had a hot bath with glitter, and afterwards I managed to bend to reach the toes of my bad leg enough to cut the nails, so I no longer have foot talons! Then my friends came round to collect some boxes I'd been looking after for them so there's more room in my living room and I can start decorating it (probably tomorrow).

I can get Siri to read to me?

My best thing was pumpkin spice Silk with amaretto in it.

Yes! Press and hold down on a text message and then press Speak. It's especially fun with emoticons, "smiling pile of poo" is our favourite!

i said damn the torpedoes and fork this shitty day, and talked my mother into taking me and the kid to a singalong of Handel's Messiah with a bunch of snarky but angel-voiced old ladies, led by my old high-school chorus teacher, who is retiring in January. It was glorious. Added bonus: the kid's English teachers was one of the soloists so there was not a groan, sigh or peep of boredom or complaint out of her. mwuhahaha.

Spent an awesome weekend with my best friends and one of them gave us all matching pendants. Someone mentioned how she felt like we were in an awesome friends club and that it was what she'd always wanted and then we all agreed and cried and hugged and it was the best thing ever. <3

this was yesterday but I neglected to post it ... a friend of ours who moved away for 10 years is back. He is a very long time friend of both of us & while e-mails & the odd Skype chat were fine so much better to have him back here and in our neighbourhood. We are going out for dinner this week to celebrate.

I got my hair dyed by an awesome vegan lady, in a studio right across the street from Timeless Coffee (all-vegan). While it was processing, she went and got me an amazing apple danish and coffee. Seriously mind-blowingly good. My hair turned out fantastically, and now basically I am friends with my hairdresser. Afterward, I went and bought some delicious coffee beans, a peppermint cup and a s'mores cup, and chatted with one of the people who works there. I've only been a handful of times, but they totally still remember me. They are just so goddamn nice and I love going there as often as possible.

Then I went and got vegan mac with breadcrumbs, artichoke hearts and caramelized onions.

Then I bought 5 glorious DVDs at Amoeba for $16.

It was a good day.

Siri reading Why Can't This Be Love was a particular highlight for me!

The Eden Pure does double my electric bill, but I look at it as a compromise between that or quadrupling my gas bill (and still being kind of cold).

The last ten days at work have been unbelievably stressful, demanding and chaotic, and I have been feeling pretty overwhelmed by it all. This morning my flatmate gave me a mix CD of Christmas jazz songs he'd made so I can listen to it in the car on the way to work, and when I got home tonight he'd tackled and sorted a huge cleaning job that was my responsibility and that I'd been putting off because I couldn't face it.

I am making a huge chilli for dinner to say thank you.
