I decided to take the afternoon off, when I arrived home I found my copy of the Oh She Glows cookbook arrived and my Vegan Society magazine.
I also txt Mum on the way home to tell her I would be home early and she started txting me apologies (thinking I was annoyed with her for some reason). I got her some chocolate on the way home and reassured her there was nothing wrong and now I have my feet up, glass of wine in hand and plan to spend the afternoon reading & drinking

So glad that I get to post this in the "best" rather than the "worst" category.
I let the dogs out and went to make breakfast for the kids. When I opened the door a few minutes later, only one dog returned and I noticed the gate was wide open due to heavy winds last night. I ran up and down the street barefoot in my pajamas calling her name. And then running back to the house to check on the still sleeping kids. I was totally freaking out at a loss for how to look for her since I was alone with my kids and there was nobody I could enlist to help. She's never been outside our house off leash before, and to be a bit blunt, she's the loveable dopey type. Finally, after over an hour of looking and frantic calls to the animal shelter, she reappeared at the front of the house. I've never seen her looking so happy and relieved, and I'm sure I had the same expression on my face as she did.

omg bhel, i am so glad it ended up being in the "best" category.

best thing about my day - volunteered at my favourite gallery for a few hours. saw a hilarious performance piece by an artist. everyone is super friendly and supportive there and unlike some other places i've been involved with, they legitimately appreciate their volunteers. told the volunteer coordinator how much i love it there and she looked so happy to hear it. best!

My favourite sweater store, which sells locally made garments, some using recycled fibres, was having a huge sale with 75% off some stock, so I got four for the price of one! A bright red, a nice turquoise, a black for work and a bright golden one (which I might give to someone who I think it will suit).

I'm loving my new job. My colleagues are great and it's so laid back here. I'm learning new and great things too. Plus, I have my own desk and I only have to work with the public for 1/4 of my day

This is really last nights best thing! Nick was away overnight and Rorschach (our foster kitty), who usually sleeps just outside our bedroom door, came into our room when I went to bed, hopped up onto Nick's side, pawed at the duvet as if he was looking for him, looked a little confused, and then settled down and slept next to me all night. It was way, way too cute. I'm going to be so sad when we have to give him back in a couple of weeks.

My best thing today is that after months of stressing about being forced to start paying for healthcare that we can't afford, my husband went through the steps and discovered that due to our income we will get a monthly insurance tax credit that is almost exactly the same as the cheapest possible plan, so we won't actually be out of pocket. It's still pretty worthless to us, with an $8000 deductible and 50% coverage after that, but at least we won't have to pay for worthless coverage.

Found out today that I get to make my own schedule at the new job! I have to work nights and was worried about my nights being split up, resulting in less than desirable sleep, but now I can schedule them all together! Yay!
