[quote="8ball"]I took part in a kettlebell sport competition today and won gold. My coach is talking about me competing internationally and also talking about Team England. Potentially (very slightly) this could be a really big deal as there's a push for the sport to be included in the Olympics.

Congratulations!

My best thing is finding a great deal on a very nice, large tent. My landlord is selling the house I've been leasing for the last 6 years and I can't find anyplace that will allow my 3 dogs. This year has been extremely difficult financially, and buying a house is not an option. The prospect of the 4 of us living in my truck was not making me very happy, but we can certainly make a comfortable camp for a few months and save money to figure out a more permanent solution. This is not where I saw my life going, but as long as I have my dogs, I feel like everything will be okay.

Ha ha, thanks! Running is about the only thing keeping me sane right now. Well, I mean, if anything is.

8ball, congrats on your victory! That is an awesome medal too.

Highlight of my day was finally getting to go to Republic of V, the new vegan grocery store in the Bay Area, and eating rescue chocolate and Sweet & Sara s'mores all day :D Nothing like sugar-induced bliss.

I won $100 on the slot machines in Niagara Falls. I was playing with the money they give you for being there so it was pure profit.

I can get my silly fancy sunglasses since my aunt sent me a generous Nordstrom gift card.

But she hasn't been talking to me. I don't know why. I'd rather she talk to me than send me expensive gifts.

(i am having a work-like-a-demon day and since the net connection is slow, i've been playing opera CDs i have in my itunes instead of streaming my normal concentration music, because the bird is extra horny and grumpy and opera seems to calm him down)
Overheard just now, the kid singing to the tune of La Donna é Mobile:

"assassin platypus
kill all my enemies
slash with your little spine
no one will suspect you"

(she turned out to be watching platypus gifs and i guess my cds had been repeating ad nauseam)

My Dad and I drink like fish (they last couple of years we have drunk quite a lot but the last couple of months have been extra bad (between 10 and 30 units a day)). On Sunday we decided to have a break of a minimum 1 month, possibly 3.
I love it when I give up drinking (I do every 6 months or so for a few weeks and end up feeling/sleeping much better) . After 2 days this is the best I have felt all year

My online grocery order arrived and I now have chocolate-peanut spread and Lotus speculoos spread. So of course I've got spoons out and am quality testing them.

good for you!
i recently had to stop due to some medication interaction and just generally feeling like shiitake. i have noticed that half of the time my excuse for drinking is "so i can sleep" but in reality, i'm sleeping much better. and feeling better. very nice.

(the bad news: i just made 35 liters of beer. but no hurry, it isn't going anywhere)

That is exciting! What tradition? I used to do Cotswold (mostly Sherborne and Bampton) but the plain capers killed my lower back. I occasionally think about joining my friends' Border team but there always seems to be too much else going on; maybe someday!

I came home from work tired and grumpy, but instead of eating chocolatey squares cereal for dinner (my first impulse), I made myself a spicy skillet involving broccoli, black beans and red potatoes. I'm filling up on that and I can have chocolatey squares later if there's still room, but am less likely to scoff 1/3 packet (about 6oz) in one go!

Not so much a best thing, but since I whined about so much crepe yesterday some balance seems nice.

I'm glad I didn't go to work today. I slept in, then mom and I looked through some cookbooks and went shopping for stuff to make Chloe's chocolate orange cupcakes and IDI nacho night.

Just nice to have a calmer, better day. I guess we both feel a bit better after all the crying we did yesterday. When I get home from class tonight, we will watch cooking shows or a movie.

I also bought a lot of strange things at the grocery store, few of which were successful. I can't help myself! I see stuff like Doritos I know I'll hate and have to try them anyway. I do this with weird veggies and fruit too which is how I ended up once making a thread about what to do with a bitter melon.

I just made the cupcake part and they are amazing even without any frosting. Mom is making that stuff while I'm at work. We did minis.
