Thank you! It's often by-the-seat-of-my-pants stuff.

Today people in countries that aren't England (meaning that I don't know them personally) have been having a very positive discussion about us online. I'm blown away by the kind of reception we're getting, it's more than I could've hoped for.

What's the name of your band 8ball? I'd like to check them out.

My best thing tomorrow is going to the art museum with my best friend. One of my favorite activities with one of my favorite people.

I finished the poster I'm presenting at a poster session tomorrow (yaaaaay grad school) and while not amazing, it's also not awful. It really looked like I wasn't going to make the deadline for a while so I'm relieved.

I don't know for sure yet, but I *think* the best thing about my day is going to be my tofurky pizza for dinner! My grocery store magically acquired them about a month and a half ago (2 months? More?) and I haven't bought any because $9 is a lot for frozen pizza. I decided to let myself buy them tonight. Better be delicious!

I made chocolate-hazelnut-almond spread. The hazelnuts took ages to skin, but it was so worth the effort. Phase one of my plan for Ferrero Rocher-alikes is complete...

I was hanging out at my usual bar tonight and an older man that I see every once in a while was there, celebrating his 90th birthday. For the first time, I got the story of his life. He was a paratrooper in WWII, in Italy, France and Belgium, as part of one the most infamous divisions in the war. I am amazed and honored to hear his story and share in this small way in his life. made my day

Awesome! Regarding the hazelnuts, did you roast them first? I usually find a quick roast means I can just rub off the skins in a clean tea towel.

I'd love to know your recipe if you can share it (or a link/recipe reference)

I did roast them, but maybe not long enough. I'll try the baking soda boiling method next time, which will be soon because I need to fine tune. I was hoping it would be soft-semi-solid this morning once it cooled but it is thick but pourable.

It's not dissimilar to the Notella in V'con but with chocolate instead of cocoa (I have a ton of Plamil chocolate chips to get through!), more nuts but half almonds, less oil and less sugar, no soy milk powder as I've never seen it for sale here. Hopefully I can put something in the foodporn section soon!

I usually rub off the skins as best I can, but I don't stress about getting them all off because it's all just going in the food processor anyway.

My post in a Vegan Pet Peeves about needing to stop fighting with people on FB put me in the "angrily posting on Facebook" category of sub nicks and I can't help but laugh at that.

My BFF is visiting! And I had an idea of how to present some data in my thesis in a way that's acceptable, which is good, because that shiitake is due Monday.

I had a delicious vegan burrito with fried potatoes, tofu scramble, shaved seitan, salsa, and cheez sauce, then I went to a Worldwide Vegan Bakesale and bought 2 donuts, then I walked to a thrift shop and found a super cute skirt for $5, then I walked a long ways home because it was nice and sunny. Best Sunday in a long time!

My history adviser got the teaching award I nominated him for!

(I also organised the large number of nominations it requires to get someone a teaching award)

Speculoos is indeed a wonderful gift to humanity! I would recommend trying it in porridge and in blondies instead of peanut butter.

A few things at the office changed and I can get three weeks off in june-july!
(about two months ago my request was denied and I was afraid that would get me into trouble with the import permit I have for my motorcycle in the U.S)

I'm going to book flights this evening!

That's so cute.

Taking the pup to a rescue charity fund-raiser at a doggy fun park, she was overwhelmed and delighted at the same time. All the dogs had a brilliant time and we met a lovely lil senior spaniel who's up for adoption. If they can't re-home him Popster & I will consider adding him to our wee family.
