Sleeping in until 9:30am. Which, for me, felt like sleeping until noon. I'm up at the crack of dawn 7days/week but I needed the extra rest and it left downright luxurious.

It's a lovely summer's day here, the first after an extra long winter. Both my kids are getting over a few nasty bugs, my daughter has been in the hospital. I think we're finally starting to turn a corner. We just came back from a long break in the park and it's just such a nice day! :)

Banner day at the local health food store! Tofurkey pockets and andouille sausage, creme filled endangered species chocolate, and (most importantly!) both flavors of earth balance kettle chips!

I have so much eating to do.

I'm an auntie! My nephew was born a couple of hours ago and we're now all just waiting up for my bro, sister in law and the tiny one to get home from the hospital so we can meet him!!

Also dying to shout about it on facebook but can't yet! hahaha

Got home from work and promptly fell asleep in the sun in my backyard. It was so pleasant. Now I've just finished eating a super yum dinner, which is extra special because it feels like the first day in a long time I haven't just made myself instant ramen (don't get me wrong though, I do make fabulous ramen with lots of kale added) (but still).

Thanks!

I received Vegan on the Cheap, Vegan Diner and Chloe's Kitchen. And I've decided the dogs are going to get me AFR as a belated Mother's Day gift.

Truly fantastic weekend. Went to a birthday party on Friday, the coast on Saturday, and played silly games with my family on Sunday.

And we got the best possible outcome with the kids banged up knee. Just a nasty fluid build up that was drained. (TMI? Sorry). But in just an hour he said it felt like they had given him a new knee!

that is so awesome! did you have to put on your Big Bad Advocate hat?

(when i had my knee injury, i was first put into a cast and it caused a fluid buildup- they drained the fluid, which was absolutely squick-a-licious terrifying, but it did feel like a miracle. so glad he's feeling better. bet you're just a little relieved yourself...)

I didn't really have to advocate. I just told them the mis-treatment and they jumped right on it. So the whole things was just awesome.
We do go back next week to follow up, which is actually better care than he has been getting.

Ordered a new black cardigan from Herbivore! The last one is in tatters and lasted me more than 5 years. I love it so.

Oh and of course I can't have it feeling lonely on the trip down here so I ordered some more stuff to keep it company.

The worst part of my day will be getting my credit card bill! I've been on a real tear lately.

I did a bakesale supporting a farm sanctuary on Saturday, and I had this woman contact me ahead of time and say that she and her daughter wanted to bake some stuff for it and they would bring it to the bakesale. I was shocked, yes, in my own ignorance, when they showed up and the mom was in full niqab and daughter in hijab. As if muslims couldn't be vegan? I took a good look at myself and wondered why that would be surprising to me. Anyway, they were so lovely and their baked goods were delicious. Today I returned one of their serving trays to them which is around the corner from my work, and we had arranged to do that on my lunch break and I could come in for tea. They had prepared this lovely lunch spread! Wowzers. These beautiful little spinach/parsley/tomato handpies, cupcakes and plenty of mint tea. We had great conversation, and it was nice to see that the divide between fundamentally religious people and an atheist can be forgotten over lunch and conversation about animal welfare.

My coworker gave me a vegan cookie and I put it in my desk, "for when I REALLY need it."

So yeah, I ate it about 5 minutes later. Obviously.

I just tasted nooch for the first time today (A recipe called for it, and as I was getting the ingredients together I just had a little bit straight from the tub).

It was amazing! Totally not what I was expecting. Why didn't I try this sooner?!

Good news!

I've been waiting and waiting to hear back from a job interview I had that I felt had gone well. Last week, I called and learned that I was going to get the position, but that it had been frozen for financial reasons. Today, I find a posting for the SAME job, SAME company- at a different location. You better believe I applied as fast as I could!
