That cake, poopie! It's beautiful --- and the flavors sound like flavors of my dreams!
I wish I could eat it while rocking out at that Vegan Party Barge (?!!!).

I've had an extremely productive 5 days while they've been gone, but i think maybe i'm less solitary than i used to be. I miss them both.

Poopie thats a lovely cake!!!

I walked a couple miles today, used my Waterstones card points to get Slaughterhouse 5 for £1.91 and flirted with the cute sales assistant (who knew from memory which book I had reserved by my last name - it must be love). Then spent the afternoon with my niece, sister and brother in law

What a strangely enchanting visit from the company who came to fix our broken water heater. The technician wanted to talk me through the entire process, including how the water heater + thermostat work together (which is awesome, because I've lived here for 3+ years, and no one has ever known, and it's a different system than I've seen in Poland or the US). I love learning about this kind of thing, and find people talk about it at a "better" level if they think you also are geeky, so I fibbed and said I'm doing a ling neursci PhD (which is true) and working with EEG (which is false) and we had an awesome geeky discussion about the water heater, its bits, a lot of his hobby projects making electronics and a new kind of sensor which I didn't know existed. I am baffled and charmed that such an interaction happened.

We're putting in an offer on a house today! The market here is so competitive that we probably won't get it, but I'm so excited to be house hunting and finding places we could really see being our home.

PT is so good. (It is so good, I cannot believe no one recommended it earlier! At one point, I was even seeing 3 doctors, all of whom had brain recovery as their #1 goal! rrrrrrrrrrrr.) Anyway, PT is great, I love my therapist, and I am super impressed that the micromovements she gives me to work on are so helpful, and also, so exhausting. I've got 3 now, plus a promise to leave the house and walk or bike ride 3x per day, and damn if moving that particular chin or shoulder muscle doesn't leave my heart racing each and every time.

Today is Mr Torque's birthday. He, like me, is a grumpy old fart, so he said no cake, no party, not even going out for dinner. Boooo.
However, he forgot that birthday tradition in our new house is copious amounts of gobhi manchurian, until everyone falls asleep, overstuffed. Mwuahahaha.

I was awarded level 2 on the UK kettlebell sport ranking system. When I get to level 3 (going to try my best in October) I can try out for Team England.

Aww, well, see the "worst things thread" because we didn't get it. Oh well! We're still looking at I'm sure we'll find something just as awesome if not better within the next few months. It's still really exciting to be house hunting and putting in offers!

Mr Torque shares a birthday with biker boy. He tried to be a grumpy old fart, but his friends and I are making him go out to dinner and beers, and I baked him a pie.

My best thing for probably the week will be seeing Joan Baez and the Indigo Girls tonight. With my bestie. Outside on the lawn of the amphitheater.
It is okay to be jealous.

Went to Whole Foods, and even though they forked up my vegan pizza (moms was fine, so I had to drive home without my pizza, smelling hers), I spent $24* on Endangered Species creme filled dark chocolate bars. The key lime bar is amazing. Too bad I only bought

*this was me exercising great self control.

Holy shiitake you guys, I WENT TO SEE THE BOOK OF MORMON AND IT WAS SO GOOD. So, so amaaaaaazing. Definitely the best thing about my day/week/month.

And while I was waiting for my friend to get there I was standing outside feeling self-conscious, when a woman stopped her husband and made him wait for her while she walked over to me to tell me that my hair was "glorious, and it made her happy to see it, and don't ever change it." Who does that? Awesome people, that's who.

And now I'm at home just relaxing with the world's largest gin and tonic and some pita and hummus, while poopieboy spends the night at my sister's house. Yesssss.

I had sich a nice long bath with epsom salts.. in our new claw-foot tub that we finally finished putting in. (tore up that bathroom ages ago, but ran into plumbing mishaps.)

Is your hair a color right now? I've had purple hair for about a decade and people say stuff like that to me all the time. :D

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice! Congrats on your new tub!

We're starting to look for a new place and while practicalities are cool and stuff (sure, sure, good location, enough space for four people, etc) what I really want is a claw foot tub and a kitchen island. And a deck or a patio though I'm flexible on that if the tub is big enough.

I hear you c&s! The next place I live is required to have a bathtub and be dog friendly, because. (I'm willing to compromise on the dog (since it doesn't exist yet) but not the bath. Not. The. Bath.) Mars, your bathtub sounds dreamy!

I finally pumped my bike tires back up to their recommended pressure and it took a full mile per hour off my usual morning ride
