The motorcycle repairs I did myself seem to have worked! I did a 200 mile ride today (to go swimming at a lake) and it started just fine every time and didn't stall once.

NatureBoy claims Dutch is terrible for pillow talk, but my favorite is still when we mumble sleepy Dutch to each other (I tend to do it when falling asleep, he tends to do it when waking up). This morning I snuggled into him and mumbled "liefy leafy lief" and he said "Ja, maar je bent beste lief, hoor". I have lots of happy, cozy feelings about snuggly mornings like these.

Things are a bit hard at home at the moment so today I spent 6 hours shopping in Manchester, it was the first time I relaxed in months and I spent a small fortune but it was worth it - I feel reborn.
I got:
Toys for my niece,
Ice cream maker,
3 novels,
1 cookbook,
New swimming goggles,
2 bags of flavoured coffee,
Lush stuff (toothy tabs, hand cream, shower bar),
Socks,
Underwear,
M&S coconut milk & Medjool dates,
Chilled food - Violife Cheese x 2, Mozzarisella, Wheaty Spiral Sausage & BBQ Mix,
New goodies - Rice vanilla dessert & cereal bars

Glad you had a good time in Manchester Star.

I finally got some sandpaper and sanded the handle of my 16kg kettlebell. Now it's nice and smooth. I'm looking forwards to having not-sore hands after training.

Its Italian food theme night with the lady. We're making raviolis together.

Mine will be artichoke ricotta with a lemon garlic sage cream sauce. Hers are spinach mushroom raviolis with a marinara.

I also have roasted tomato foccacia in the oven, which I made a kalamata white bean spread to go with. And she made a chocolate mousse pie. And theres wine.

Tonights gonna rule.

Kinky boots! So hot!

I had a Taco Bell today, for the first time in years. It was a thing.

In the next month, I'm restarting a PGCE (post-grad teacher training), starting a BSL course and launching a pilot scheme helping young people with disabilities get paying work. Also, it's my birthday soon.

Who needs time when you've got fulfilment?

Good luck with your PGCE. It was the hardest year of my life doing that course but I am so pleased I did it. Teaching is a great job!

Surprise discovery that NatureBoy (who is 30cm taller than me) and I can share some clothes, on account of both of us being quite lender/narrow. I've adopted some of his unused bike shorts and shirts, and flop about in his sweaters. Once in awhile, I can trick him into wearing my tyedye. ;)

I'm already teaching, actually. I work in FE, so a teaching qualification isn't mandatory for the first few years (you have to make a commitment to do one within three or four years, I think). I actually started a secondary MFL one about five years ago and hated it more than I have ever hated anything ever. But, I love my job now, and I'm doing the course over two years. Should be groovy!

I have a sneaky suspicion that I'm going to be expected to teach, in part, in BSL next year, as well as interpret for job coaches. That's really exciting.

I reckon teaching in a second or other language in order to make lessons more inclusive to d/Deaf students is pretty good leverage to request a pay rise, don't you? What with the mental strain and extra planning and differentiation... and interpreters typically cost £50/hour. Not that I'm, you know, scheming or anything XD

I visited a community allotment as part of my job role at work and came home with free produce! A large white pattypan squash, three heirloom tomatoes, a lemon cucumber and two types of basil. The guinea pigs had the cucumber for dinner, and the tomatoes and squash are currently roasting in the oven.

NatureBoy and I took Thursday off as an "adventure day" (last/only actual day of sunny summer in August). I did yoga in the morning sun while he internetted and read me climate change reports or volcano updates (geeky, but awesome) and made bread, pizza and bonus bread. Then we drove to Silkeborg = lake city! and had a gorgeous hike in the forests followed by a swim in my favorite lake. We've had a couple of cold nights already, so the water was way colder than the last time we went in mid-July (hottest month on record). The sun was hiding behind a cloud. I was NOT inspired to swim, but he talked me into it anyway -- and it felt so good! Forking cold, but as soon as the sun was out again, it felt warm enough. (Perceptual tricks = awesome tricks.) ...I actually kind of like how cold water feels on my head, it just takes awhile (plus some heat) to remember that.

Score. What's the pattypan like? I've never seen them for sale anywhere round here.

Nice surprise: I'm listening to qawwlis in Urdu. I am presently surprised to discover I understand most of the current one (Mast Nazron Se Allah Bachaye) because -- Hindi! I always assume I won't understand, so I don't even try. Today I'm trying to avoid other work, so I'm actually listening to the words, and bam! I get it.

Haven't eaten it yet, I'll put it into something for dinner tonight.
I've never seen them for sale either, maybe because they're summer squashes they don't have the shelf life of winter squashes like butternut.

I have the cutest, most affectionate cat visiting me RIGHT NOW! I can barely contain my glee.

This is a combined best thing with the fact that I got through work today and now have three days off to snuggle with said cat.

i NAILED an editing job so good, and caught mistakes that would have been disastrous. And got a "wow, you do a more thorough job than anyone else I know." Even better, I will be able to sleep tonight since it took me half the time I expected.
(imagine having to take an exam, and it turns out the subject matter is veganism, puppies, and awesome shiitake you love and know like the back of your hand. that was basically what this job was like. god, i love this work sometimes.)
