weekend PPK meetup in Utrecht; recycled flower making workshop in Amsterdam; sleepovers at two friends' houses, one on each night; morning archana with an adopted sister; geeky research group meeting today. life's pretty good right now.

Waking up and snuggling with my new Official Snuggle Friend™... He's so snuggly!
(Sadly, 'snuggle' is not a euphamism here. He says for mental health reasons he can't do more. Not even kissing! Sigh. Oh well, the snuggles are damn good. Best I ever had.)

That sounds delicious. We all need more innocence in our lives. I just had a true friend round for wine and conversation, and we lit the fire and watched it burn as we talked. I cannot describe how wonderful it is to have a wood-burning stove in my house. A hearth is a beautiful thing.

I got free tickets to the Sox vs Yankees game tonight! I know, it's not a super competitive season, but don't tell the man I'm taking. He's excited to go to a game and doesn't follow the sport so he's unaware that we are 16.5 games behind the Yankees. He'll probably figure it out, but it will still be fun.

(Though we have had some very good puddings). I know any fast day dish that doesn't have fish and can have the honey subbed out should be fine, but there are surprisingly few in our cookbooks. Have you seen Lady Elinor Fettiplace's Recipe Book? It's from Elizabethan times. I borrowed a copy when I was a student and newly vegan because there were recipes for almond cheese in there (waaay too salty, if I remember correctly, and if I had been following the recipe correctly!), and I remember there being a number of other vegan recipes in there as well.

I've been staying with my parents the last couple of days, partly to help them choose a new car that I can actually get in and out of with my mobility issues. We found a couple of good candidates which they're going to test drive next week, so that was probably the best thing about yesterday.
Today's best thing was getting to eat an apple fresh off the tree and my mum picking me loads of veg from her allotment. I have chard, two types of beans, courgettes, a beetroot, some knobbly carrots, horseradish, cucumbers and potatoes, all fresh and organic and lovingly grown! Plus another couple of apples.
It was also nice to see my folks, who I hadn't visited for a while.

Look up also The Forme of Cury. It's a recipe book from 1390ish and has a suprising number of non-meaty things, including almond milk left right and centre.

Combo of talking with my BFF and business parter about something that's been bothering me, and receiving a text from my supercrush at the same time.

Work has actually been busy for once, meaning that I feel competent and productive for the first time in weeks. Also, I made a delicious wrap for lunch and I got a bunch of film photos developed. And my hair looks pretty decent, considering that it hasn't been washed. Good day!

my friends are really smart and cool and kind and talented. Interacting with the people I get to interact with on a daily (or more realistically: weekly) basis is really the best thing about every day.

The children I taught today were the most well-behaved, attentive, enthusiastic, fast learners I have seen all week. Wonderful kids. They were a huge blessing after the group I had yesterday.

I saw pretty much everyone I like in Santa Cruz in the span of about an hour. This is great because a) I got a dose of all my favorite people and b) now I can hide in my she-cave and not socialize with anyone again for like three years.

I finished the third (and final) chapter of my Honours thesis on Monday. I had a meeting with my supervisor today, and she said she thought the chapter was brilliant, I was really great, and that things were looking really good! It's exciting that it's nearly over, and awesome that she's so supportive and positive. She's been an amazing supervisor so far.
Now to find an examiner who's actually up on trans* studies stuff. Sigh.

My doctor gave me codeine without my having to beg for it. She actually asked if I need a refill. This makes me very happy because I overall like her, but this issue was making me consider a new primary care physician. It's not like I'm taking mass quantities or anything!
Also, she referred me to neurology for something called a nerve conductivity test. I have no idea what this is (I have a firm policy that forbids my googling anything medical), but since it doesn't involve the MrI I was expecting, I'm thrilled.
Molly forgot to be pissed at me for a few minutes today! Probably because I broke my grocery no-buy to get her strawberries.

My crush and I took our dogs to this beautiful, huge dog park that I had never been to before, and then had thai food on the patio with our pups.
