S'rock and Mars slow dancing sounds like too much cuteness in one place.

As a birthday treat to myself my entire diet today has consisted of hummus, chocolate cake and ice cream.

Thank you! Add in old episodes of Grissom-era CSI and it's been pretty much heaven.

I ran my first ever race today & raised £100 for a local domestic violence charity. A group of 4 of us from my feminist group ran the Rise 8k as a relay so it wasn't super far each but I'm not what you'd call a natural runner so it was pretty challenging! If you'd told me a few years ago that I'd be exercising full stop let alone running in pubic I'd have said you were crazy!

It finally feels like autumn here! 58F and cloudy is perfect weather to me. I've had the upstairs windows open for a few weeks now, but it was still very warm in the afternoon.

the cutest six-year-old in the world came into the superhero supply store today and bought a cape and a ray gun and described his many excellent superpowers to me in great detail. i told him i felt safer having him around, and he shot me a wink and finger guns. his chosen superhero name is FLYING SKUNK WALLACE. *heartmelt*

Tidied up the yard and put up Halloween decorations. I have little lit up ghostie lights on stakes, some gravestones on the lawn, and sparkly spider lights to put in my tree. Plus, I bought a couple of pumpkins, but I am not going to carve jack o'lanterns until closer to Halloween. I get approximately zero trick or treaters, but that doesn't mean I can't have fun with my yard.

The whole upstairs smells like pumpkin pie spiced banana pecan bread.

I wanted pumpkin bread, but only had bananas, so I split the difference.

I also have an iced toffee nut vanilla soy latte waiting in the back of the fridge. And the new remastered REM album (Document--it sounds amazing). I'm all set to do my oceanography home work as soon as the bread is ready. I'll grab Molly and make her come keep me company instead of pestering my dad.

I haven't made much of a dent in my student's lab reports. Just realized that I don't need to tonight because 'fall break' means no class Mon or Tues. No lab reports have to be handed until Sunday. This evening just got more awesome. Now I get to catch up on internet and home stuff because of working so much during the week! Also, the boyfriend comes back tomorrow after being gone for a week.

I'm interviewing for associate wine buyer tomorrow, and several people in the last couple days have told me good luck and that they hope I get it. It's a pretty amazing feeling to have other people in other departments around our huge store recognize that I am damn good at my job, and will be damn good at this promotion too. Our main wine buyer was off today, but she sent me a text saying that secretly I have her vote. That means so much more to me than any of the others, since she's on the panel and I'll be working extremely closely with her in my new position. We've been friends for the last 4.5 years, but I wasn't automatically counting on her vote. When I think of the other people on the panel, I think I stand a pretty damn good shot of getting this.

I'm nervous, and getting more nervous by the minute, but it's a good nervous. I need to go to bed. Eeeek!

Aww, jealous! I love hot glue. (And I have to be "presentable" and answer the phone and re-build a website from scratch... Meh.)

My lovely other half persuaded me yesterday that he was wrong to leave and we could make it owrk, and that he was serious about committing. Today he's applied for jobs closer to where I live.
