the best thing so far -- i woke up to the smell of butterscotch coffee! yum!

i just got hired to edit a young-adult supernatural romance novel. i can't talk about the plot because of confidentiality agreements, but it's so ridiculous, and so much more fun than cellular proteomics. this is only my second fiction manuscript ever, and they've both come from this publisher. i was nervous about the first one because i'm less familiar with norms and expectations in this type of editing (my professional background is all medical/nonfiction), but the repeat hire is an encouraging sign of my work being not too awful.

Hooray, acr!!!!

I brought four of my cats in for their shots this morning. I thought two of the chubbers had gained more weight and I was prepared to hang my head in shame, but the vet told me they've actually lost a little weight. I must be doing something right.

Appeals court in NY ruled the federal DOMA unconstitutional. I know it doesn't really mean anything in the long run because it will end up at the Supreme Court, but it's a step in the right direction.

Bike ride! I cycled at around 1/3 my normal speed, but duuuudes, I could breathe the whole time, and was outside in amazing fresh air, it didn't rain and I found some awesome footpaths for bird "watching" (scaring) that the gemeente just put in around some of the wetlands. Also, my period started a week early, which means I won't be bleeding next week when I'm travelling! Huzzah. Great job, body. 5/5 gold stars.

Second best thing: I missed calling my grandma this week because of the surprise allergies that literally took my breath away (I didn't speak between Monday night and tonight because - no air), but felt better tonight so I called her and said "I missed you!" and she said, "Me too! I listened to all the messages you've left on the phone, actually I listened to them several times, and it was so sweet to hear you but just not the same."

I just made an ice cream sandwich with two oatmeal cookies from Trader Joe's and frozen lemon Whole Soy. Such a good treat! Only now instead of working I want to lie around, read magazines, and take a nap. Maybe I should make this treat at home...

I woke up early this morning in SUCH a good mood (what was I dreaming about...) The morning was foggy, I started a new art project right away and made the biggest pot of garbanzo beans EVER for a week (or two) of hummus. Let this glorious day continue...

It's a beautiful day, I finished the skirt for my Halloween costume, I did an awesome workout and had veggie burger and chips for tea.

I had a nice lunch outside with vegetalion! We hung out with some nosy birds.

I worked closing today with my crush and it was fun.

Thrift shopping with my 12 year old and bff. No melt downs. FOund the perfect costume. Just a good day!

Okay this was seriously the BEST frakkin day EVER.

Start: Accomplished household tasks. Yay. Then: Go to work. BUT WAIT! I was covering a shift over at a different location than the one I work at... one I worked at two years ago for three months. IT WAS FRAKKIN AWESOME. The damn atmosphere there was a million times better than the stupid forkin high school shiitake that is what my location feels like.

PS: The sun was so damn shiny. I was wearing a t-shirt outside for parts of the day.

They (work) got in this rose that I thought was so damn sexy, so I got one, wrapped it all pretty with laurel and texted my crush all: "what are you doing after 7? I'm having a great day, I want to top it off with a quick kiss" (I knew he couldn't hang tonight, but I though maybe we could coordinate a quick pit stop). He was able to and came over real quick... I gave him the rose, he loved it, it was the first flower he was given to as a gift, got my kiss in...

Then my BFF and I listened to Kool and the Gang and Nu Shooz. Whiskey happened... then we danced to these two vinyl records we found... one called "Machismo" which WAS AWESOME. And then some summer surf compilation (beach boys kinda shiitake) and we did the twist and so much awesome and decided we need to start a queer surf/twist music dance night.

Okay instead of best THING about my day I just listed everythingz. Ah well.

Oh yeah and my dog and her dog were caught briefly snuggling.

My dog is a grumpy gus so this is a big deal.

I got an amazing package from Vijita just at a very low moment. It made life seem great again instead of unbearable!

the best thing? Summer is back, people!! Was sitting outside for lunch, had awesome pizza and the sun was shining (22°C i heard)

Eating Halloween Joe Joes with Molly. She can't have the chocolate part, but she loves the filling.

She now has a totally orange beak.

Picked up my excess financial aid check and deposited it into the bank. Getting one more in a couple weeks and then hopefully a laptop!

Best thing about my decade

1. I won a MoFo giveway for my favorite type of material good other than food: fancy soap!

2. I actually managed to get a lot of study time in for the two midterms I have next week! Like a solid hour and a half each. (One I've already poured like a dozen hours into studying over the course of the past few weeks.)

My mom is seriously considering veganism!
