i am pages away from being done with volume 1 of Ticks: They Are Disgusting and We Are Not Even Kidding, Seriously, They're So Gross. i'm editing the preface right now, and it contains this sentence about the previous edition:
"The first edition met with widespread success, so much so that it is now out of print."
these authors have been decisively humorless for the past 1,000 or so pages, so either they don't realize what they're saying here, or it is a rare glimpse of their wry, thwarted inner selves. either way, it is my favorite sentence in the entire book.

I got brunch at the Wandering Goat, and ate the best thing I've ever had in my life probably. A peanut butter bar, that was like a thick, giant square of peanut butter fudge like stuff, with rice crispy puff things sprinkled throughout, topped in a layer of chocolate. It was seriously the best. On my way home, I picked up a bunch of biographies about Kurt Vonnegut from the library, and then I ran into a postman on my way home and asked if I could give him a postcard to mail, and he complimented my bike panniers, and took my postcard. When I got home, the mail had already come so if I hadn't bumped into the postman I would've had to wait an extra day to mail out said postcard.
Also, we won the battle against mildew in our bedroom, and have disinfected everything, and can put our bedroom back together tomorrow. I bought some new flannel sheets for our mattress because the old ones got covered in mold and I can't wait to get into bed and not be laying amongst freezing cold sheets.

I had they Amy's light and lean spaghetti and meatballs for lunch, and I didn't get any of it on me!!!
ETA: I mean, it was tasty, too. I was wearing a new blazer and red sauce and dry clean only is usually a recipe for disaster for me.

I'm at Tofulish's house right now! I'm petting Tofulish's dog! The cat and the baby had a duel over who got to be in my lap! (They were not interested in my suggestion that there was actually room for both of them.) By the way, Leela is about 50383384% cuter in real life, if you can even imagine that being possible. She has the world's best giggle...ever.

There is purple hair on my couch you guys! We had a dance party! It was so exciting that Leela refused to go to sleep.

I went round to my boyfriend's house, and he'd bought me two ''Choices dairy free confectionery' Santa sacks, which I've been unsuccessfully been trying to get hold of since I learnt of their existence! Then he cooked us dinner and I finally managed to watch the whole of the Matrix without falling asleep.

Ending a miserable migraine day with a long telephone conversation with my lovely fella. We've both been overtired and overstretched by Christmas, and it was just lovely to chat and feel all the love I have for him cutting through all the fatigue and discomfort I'm in at the moment.
