Casserole season is upon us! It is time for the annual casserole battle royale. What is your favored casserole and how will you use it in battle?

Choose wisely!

Straight tottin'!
I plan to use tater tot casserole to incapacitate my enemies with the stick of butter and tub of sour cream, thus freeing up the rest of the casseroles for my own consumption.

I don't have a history with any of these casseroles, but I want tots casserole the most. obviously.

There was a bean, rice and cheese casserole that my mom would make when i was a kid. she veganized it once and it was great. There's also a microwave enchilada stack that is kind of a casserole that I have good memories of and have successfully veganized. None of those have tots though...

Can I get more details on the squash and corn casserole? I assume the sweet potato casserole is sweet potatoes/marshmallows? And not sure what in the tot casserole but I'm down.

I feel like I can't vote because tot casserole appeals most, but I've never actually eaten it - I just like the idea of it. Of the remaining options, give me green bean or give me death.

The funny thing is that I never ate green bean casserole pregan, even though my mom made it every year. I don't know what made me try it - probably the fact that I learned to like all the individual components of it.

Yeah, none of these ring any bells (full disclosure: I've never even heard of squash dressing or corn casserole. What a strange and interesting country this is - age cannot wither it, nor custom stale its infinite variety of random casseroles!), but it's hard to imagine that anything involving tots could be bad, so that gets my vote.

I'm a bit confused -I think casserole means something different in the UK. If I was having casserole I would expect something stew-like?

Yes, UK casseroles are different to US ones. Over here it generally means a bunch off stuff mixed together (or layered, like lasagna) and baked in a big pan. For instance, shepherd's pie is considered a casserole.

Growing up in Australia, with one parent from the US and one parent from the UK, I still don't really understand what a casserole is. I've just always thought of it as something that's a bit thicker than a stew and baked in the oven. Which sounds like it's not entirely inaccurate? I think my Mum (from the UK) just calls them "bakes" (pasta bake, potato bake, that kind of thing. As opposed to baked potatoes, which are entirely different).

I've never eaten any of the casseroles mentioned above, so I have no idea what to pick.

Strangely the only one on the list I've had is the tatertot to casserole. I'm pretty sure that if someone ever saves the world that tatertots will be involved in the deal. I can't vote and the only reason I'm here is because I couldn't resist clicking on such an awesome thread title. Should be a good thread.

Green bean casserole was only around when I was a kid if some outsider brought a dish to pass because I never saw it at any family only gatherings. I know it exists but passed on it as a kid because it was alien. Now I am intrigued by it. I bet it would be awesome dumped on a pile of tatertots...

Tater tot currently leads but sweet potato has moved into the poll with its first vote. Let the additions of creamy foodstuffs to other foodstuffs begin!

I'm perplexed by these casseroles because most of them don't read as meals, but as sides. Casseroles are supposed to be all in one meals!

I'll slide in with a rogue pasta bake. Sloppy face stuffing commence!

Casseroles: the side dishes that last for a week as leftovers. Make 10 with rolls and gravy. Casserollin' through the rest of the week.
