It's a bit out of hand! I have over 200 and this seems like the awesomest way to display them!

Will that stadium thingo fit on your fireplace? Oh, you can just get Nick to move out :)

Haha, no! It won't fit on the fireplace but it'll fit on the new bookcase in the bedroom! There are currently only 14 Pez dispensers on the fireplace! Madness!

dropscone I've had to stop adding to the collection so for now I'm just gonna get three. I think. I may have to get one at a time!

I just went to the supermarket and decided to use the self checkout. After you scan your items, they go down the conveyor belt to the bagging area. Usually an employee will come over and bag everything up for you, but today they were all busy. So I scanned all my items and they piled up in the bagging area. After I paid, I went down to start bagging them, and a guy walked up and started using the checkout, scanning his stuff and sending it flying down into my groceries. He looked over and saw that all of his stuff was landing in my grocery pile, and then he just kept going. So I had to pick my stuff out from among his gallons of milk and boxes of condoms. Really, dude? You couldn't wait 2 minutes for me to get all my stuff in bags?

That is so rude, raspberry!

Tomorrow my former chronic alcoholic, one-and-a-half-pack a day smoker cancer survivor sister is running her first full marathon!!!! I'm so excited for her. I've been very emotional about how far she's come all day. I was out this morning myself, running my 5K and crying (with happiness) to think of her as I trotted along. It's a very exciting time for us! She's such an inspiration with every challenge she's triumphed over and this is just a culmination of how hard she's worked and how far she's come!!!! I just packed a lunch as my nephew (her son) and I are heading out to Mississauga tomorrow to meet her at the finish line.

RC, I hate when that happens! People are always in such a rush around here, so that happens a lot here.

At Trader Joe's, I usually bag my stuff while the clerk is ringing me out if there isn't someone on bagging duty. Without fail, every time I do this, the next person in line comes over and hovers over me, shoving their groceries at the clerk and blocking me from being able to pay. Today I was really irritable already and I walked over and ever so gently bodychecked the woman out of the way. Lady, I need to pay, and you are NOT sporking me while I enter the PIN for my debit card, thank you!

I think grocery stores bring out the worst in people--all the horrid shopping behavior that is lying in wait during the year but finally comes out at holiday shopping time trickles out in small bursts while grocery shopping year round.

This is really really really great and I hope she has a great race!

We do have a lot of really great customers at my store, but all too often this is true. It was even worse when I was a cashier. My store is really big (82K square feet!), and people are really drained and irritable by the time they get to the register, especially during the holidays.

Weird request! Could someone in the US take a look at this EBay item for me & tell me what the shipping cost is within the US?

It was only $9.75 for shipping to Chicago, FYI.

People in grocery stores are crassholes to anybody with a disability. Whole Foods is the worst. Trader Joes is bad too, but mostly because the stores and managers are hostile and don't give a fork for disabled customers. I'll never go to a TJ again after how I was treated. fork them.

Last time I was in Wegmans though, sweet lady in front of me in line actually offered to put my groceries on the conveyor belt for me (from the mobile cart). She noticed my stuff was all vegan and we had a chat about cheese since she is lactose intolerant and was curious about my pizza. Usually though, people seem to assume you use the cart because you want to ruin their day by blocking or being slow.

My dad doesn't use a cart, but he is slow and has a tremor. People push past him all the time. And he isn't an asshole--he knows he is slow, so he keeps to the sides and doesn't block.

The Whole Foods I go to has tiny aisles. The carts actually don't fit down one or two of them. They hide the carts somewhere so you have to ask and then *stand around* waiting for them to get it for you.

In my opinion grocery stores should not have those stupid cardboard displays they all have. Most stores do not have room for them and they make it impossible to get carts down the aisles.

The local Giant is very nice though. They don't have all the vegan goodies I want, but they have friendly employees, lots of carts that they keep repaired and charged (unlike Wegmans), and big aisles that they keep clear.

I'm having a tough time knowing what, if anything, I should try to do about some cliqueish behavior. Among the wives of my husband's coworkers, there've become some hurt feelings. I don't know the whole story, but I think it's that cliques have formed and some of the chiefs' wives are not being included in chief wife get togethers. It all feels like being back in junior high. Anyway, I don't know the whole story, I don't know if I want to know, I just want everyone to be nice to one another and conscientious of avoiding hurt feelings. It doesn't really involve me directly, and I don't want to start stepping in and telling people what to do with their social lives, but if it starts to affect morale it seems like a problem.

How do you tell people to suck it up and be cordial and err on the side of inclusivity? The CO's wife seems as perplexed as I am, and I suspect we have very similar feelings about it.

Annak, this has happened in literally every unit I've been in, with the wives. The gossip and pettiness is why I never participate in spouses' club stuff (I'm in the service myself, but I'm always the only woman in the unit so they sometimes invite me to stuff). Our last president of the spouses' club got fired for nasty gossip she was spreading! I mean, really.

I don't have advice, just good luck.

Yesterday I was all excited to have a nice productive morning moving and organizing my shiitake (I'm moving rooms in the same house). Allergies are knocking me out and I so far have not moved off the couch.

My neighbours are playing tremendously loud music. I would go and ask them to turn it down but they have a peculiar door system (their door is through a yard, and sometimes the yard gate is locked, and there's no bell outside), and I don't think they'd hear any knocking over the music anyway.

I do have a hammer though...

I tried to dye my hair red, but it only took on the roots--so I have like three inches of BRIGHT copper red hair, and then the rest of my hair (almost to my shoulders) is black and blotchy. So today I am attempting to bleach out my hair and try again, but I am afraid that the bleach isn't evenly distributed and I'm only making matters worse.

To add to that, I tried about six different stores in the city, and NONE of them had the same red that I used yesterday, so I had to buy a different one and I'm going to order the color I like from the internet and do MORE re-dying. So ridiculous.

I can't wear any sort of hair covering to work, so I can't do anything other than spend my entire day trying to fix my hair. BLARGH.

Major first world problems, but it still feels awful to look so bad. I am really unhappy right now, which is silly.

Eek. This sounds like time to stop and get professional help.

Maybe you can turn a scarf into to a wide head band to cover up a bit of it. At least it would look cute and distract, right?

You should buy 'color stripper' instead of/before bleach. It'll affect your hair way more evenly.

I second this. It sounds like from your description that you're trying to change the color to red from dyed black hair, and if that's the case, it's going to be super tricky. My hair stylist says that's one of the most tricky things he has to do, since lightening the hair so that it turns out evenly and not blotchy orange is very difficult.

It might be about this time. I usually do all my color myself but I've also made peace with the shave-your-head option if it turns our really badly.

I made the Dean's List at school this semester, and in about two weeks I will find out if I got an interview for vet school. I am so worried I basically feel like crying all the time.

I've discovered a new low in laziness: not wanting to watch a Bluray movie because that entails getting up to put the disk in (and removing the clothes piles on to of the player). Using Netflix or one of my purchased digital movies is so much lazier.

I'm ashamed. Ashamed enough to get up and put the movie in (Iron Man 2).

(its ridiculous that a digital copy would have been $20. Bluray was $10.99 at Costco.)

I just realized that that was my first ever bluray purchase. Look at me joining the current decade (inherited player from my dad who got one that doesn't suck). Does this mean I have to replace all my Bond movies now? Probably.

I should be studying physics. My chances of passing aren't looking too great.
