This is a forum question. Do we have any forum discussions on welfare vs abolition veganism? Is this sort of thing "against the rules"? Can I start one? :D I'm really interested in what people have to say but I completely understand if it's touchy, because well, it is. I tried doing a search on both terms and couldn't find much.
if you want to talk about stuff, you should have a specific question in mind or at least an opinion to state. That's my personal opinion because I hate when people start controversial topics just to see where they go without having a specific purpose for the thread.
I don't think you'll find many "abolitionists" here, so you might not get the answers you want. it's definitely touchy.

I obviously failed on the dino front. I was too enamo[u]red with the castle-like buildings.
CASTLES!!!!
Well, it's just an unsubstantiated rumour, but I heard Mr Rex got taken away due to some "noffipests" jumping up and down on his tail during graduation hijinks...
I totally live in a castle.

eta - wait...bang?!, have you actually taken the bus from Glasgow to London??? If so, WHY?? Also, if you answer, why are you awake silly button.
Haha! I know. Sleep times. Ooops.
Yes I have taken the bus between Glasgow and London. No, I would never recommend it. Ever ever ever. But it was £1 and I was 18 (the answer to so many many questions!)

Love. Damn, £1 is pretty cheap... but not cheap enough to spend a night on a bus. But I probably definitely would have done it when I was 18.
Thanks, linanil!
Honestly, I'd probably still do it now. I'm freaking poor. If I had money, I'd be traveling, but instead, I'm hoarding it in hopes of surviving till I get a job. If travel was that cheap, I'd TOTALLY spend the night on a bus!

My neighbors kitten is missing and she has no collar or id tags :( I am seriously stressing. She is so tiny and our road is so busy :( I hope she comes home soon.

Hmmphh. I don't know what to do... I really want to keep selling muffins and other vegan goodies (viewtopic.php?f=34&t=6425), but since we left the stupid "organic" "farmers' market" I don't know what to do..
The dude that rented us the space we had is a freaking douche. He wanted me to help other vendors (like the honey lady; they're friends). I tried to explain him why I couldn't use honey in my products, but he just took that like a rude response and said "But she pampers her bees!".
I'd say more, but that should go in my own thread, hehe.

I just enjoy hearing what people think because I'm not very opinionated and I wish I was, I guess. They're both stances I've become increasingly aware of in the last couple of months because I now volunteer for a organization that has mission statements/beliefs centered in abolition veganism. I really don't know much, I just thought it was an interesting topic but neverless! I will not open that can of worms. Mainly because I really, now that I think about it, wouldn't know how to go about starting the thread because I don't really have an opinion yet. I also don't want to start anything that doesn't need to be started. I'll just try googling it I guess. Thank you to everyone else that responded (there were two others I think besides ijustdiedinside). :)

Kids are such a pain in the butt. For the third night in a row, Molly refuses to go to sleep. She is noisily climbing around and doing her passive aggressive dish banging and bell ringing (what idiot gave her a bell for a toy?). The worst part is when she starts talking. It is so freaking hard to ignore a tiny baby voice saying "I love you Molly" or "kiss kiss." Aargh!
I finally gave in and brought her over to snuggle under my chin. Now she is asleep.
(so not a kid, but psychology isn't far off from a bratty 2 your old; in bird chat land, we call our parrots fids: feathered kids)

SarahNorine, I think it's a very interesting topic if it can stay sensible. I'm also a person who doesn't really have much knowledge or opinion on these issues (but don't get me started on chilli powder). Like, I'll glance over things like Letthemeatmeat (I know...) and don't understand any of the arguments at all. I'd like it if you started one but I understand if you don't want to.
Meggs, that's great news! I'm sure the Glaswegians are more keen on Americans living there than they are about English people living there :) (My husband worked at Glasgow University for 2 years and said he'd never seen or experienced that level of racism anywhere).

So the doc says they do want to remove my gallbladder and I'm officially on the waiting list. It could be 18 weeks it could be way way sooner if they get a cancellation and she's marked it as 'ASAP please'. hehe.

If that was about what I said, I meant it to sound far more jokey than it did now I read it back. Though he still does maintain that being an English person teaching in a Scottish university was not something he'd like to do again.
