$7.50 for media mail? You are shipping by media mail, right?

I usually spend a little bit more than 3.99 on the actual shipping, but instead of envelopes I wrap my books in old paper shopping bags with packing tape around any edges that might tend to poke through the paper. I've never had anyone complain.

I've had media mail get that high for text books because of the weight. Regular sized books might be less than 3.99, but you never get very much for those anyway.

Last week I mailed a very light weight pamphlet and first class shipping was cheaper than media mail for it, but it was still over $2.00, I think it was $2.24 to ship it. I was shocked. A couple years back postage would have been like .98 cents for the same pamphlet.

I am going apartment hunting tomorrow morning! At least, I'm going to look at one very awesome (and kind of expensive) apartment because none of the other places called me back. If a landlord can't even get back to me about looking to rent out their stupid apartment, I don't imagine they will be very responsive when something breaks and needs quick fixing.

Anyway, I'm already in love with the apartment I'm going to look at and am probably going to pull a classic allularpunk, where I sign a lease for the very first place I look at. Oh well, pickings are slim in a college town at the end of December...

When I used to buy and sell text books on Amazon and half.com I would always always reuse the shipping envelopes I received books in. Technically it's against the rules but no one ever complained.

This was from a while ago, butI wanted to share that I ended up buying some plain kid sized aprons and decorating them for each kid and also getting a cute set of cookie cutters. I'll be giving the gifts to them this weekend, so we'll see how they react, but I think they turned out super cute so I dont even care if they are unimpressed by an apron!

So cite! I bet they love the aprons. Kids usually seem to like stuff made for,them, especially if it makes them feel more adult. I'd think an apron for cooking would do that.


I haven't eaten anything today except a few tamari almonds. My stomach feels weird--queasy without being queasy if that makes sense. I also didn't eat anything yesterday except some baked Cajun fries I made. I don't know what to eat! My back hurts too badly to do anything that involves standing/moving around the kitchen. I bought some clothes this month instead of expensive convenience foods.

I kind of want Vegan Comfort Food Alfredo, but that's such a bowl of oil. I should avoid that. Maybe I,could do something else with mini Farfalle and cream cheese?

Thanks! i asked their mom what their favorite colors are and tried to use all of them! I kind of want to make these for many adult friends, too.

Sometimes I just want noodles and butter. I bet farfalle and a cream cheese sauce would be good. I used to eat noodles with cream cheese as a kid.

How would you make it? I'm so bad at improvising in the kitchen. I've got a boatload of pantry ingredients--stuff falls out and attacks me when I open the door.

welll, when i was a kid my dad would literally just drain the pasta, put it back in the pot and throw a blob of cream cheese in there till it melted. but i dont think vegan stuff tastes good enough on it's own, so i guess i'd add salt and pepper and then go from there with maybe some garlic powder and nooch?

That sounds pretty good. I think I'll give it a try when I feel like moving. If all else fails, nooch fixes most things, right?

There are dolphins chattering on my tv and Amos is fascinated by it. He barks at dogs and cats and doorbells, and fidgets when babies cry, but pretty much ignores the rest of tv. The dolphins have his attention though. So cute.

I was really trying to not think about my guy tonight and not seeing him. We saw each other Mon/Tues and 99% sure we'll see each other tom, but I'm really missing him tonight. Sent a txt earlier and he was at work. He's super stressed right now and working out bugs in the computer program, but I'm lonely. Miss his sarcasm and cuddling.

I am so forking stressed about finding a new place to live. I've been looking for a month now. All the perfect places aren't responding to me wanting to see them.
I have three weeks to find a place. I really, really don't want to (temporarily) move in with my mother, but the mold is getting really bad, and if I can't find a place, it's my only option. The mold is everywhere, and no matter what I do, it keeps coming back. It's ruined my box spring on my mattress, and it nearly ruined my end table. I'm scared to sleep in my bedroom.

I just wish I had an extra $250 to throw at rent, but even looking at places $150 more per month is tight and stressing me out, but there isn't anything in the area I need to be in that's in my price range.

my gym is closed til after new year's. i am free between christmas and new years and it makes me so sad. yes, they need holidays, etc etc but damn. it's too hot/sunny to run outside.

Lexi is going through a really bratty phase the past few days and refusing to come back to me at the end of our walk. Today I went on an extra long walk and she got 2 hours of running and walking around the woods. At the end she just would not come back to me, she just wanted to be chased. In the end I had to throw a stone into a ditch for her to chase after it and when she jumped in I had to pounce and try grab her. She moved so quick I only managed to catch her by a bit of fur. She squealed. Now I feel awful.
