He's trained for two years for this swim. He should be aboard a Chilean Navy vessel by now. Jump window opens on Friday and lasts for seven days; he'll start his swim when the support crew deems the conditions as close to optimal as they're likely to get. I am simultaneously in awe, super excited for him, and scared as hell. And cold just thinking about it!

I know no one really cares, but he made it! 37F water, 16 knot currents, 103 minutes crossing, Lard only knows how many calories burned keeping warm...

hell yeah.

I'm just so proud of him! He's one of the nicest, most genuine, generous of spirit people I know and he's worked so hard for this crazy goal. I can't say I really understand the desire but I admire his dedication to a goal!

Ha, the funny thing is I've only seen this movie translated into italian, and they gave Thomas a roman accent, which sounds so un-cool (and called him Romeo). This is awesome instead!

What are the major vitamins in double chocolate and almond cookies? I feel I must have been severely deficient in those vitamins, given how many of these cookies I have had from the time I baked them last night up to now. Yeah, it's my body being intuitive, not that I'm a greedy forker, definitely.

Chocolate and almonds contain magnesium if I'm not totally mistaken (at least I'm fairly sure chocolate does) so your body just really needs its minerals. It's perfectly normal, if not even required, to eat a lot of freshly baked cookies.
I'll be over in an hour or so.

I ran out of tahini and it was an emergency so I was going to order a bulk 8 pound bucket off the internet, but people told me that was an overreaction so I ordered 6 pounds instead.

My cardiac memo results came back as ok. The fourth record I made showed a slow heart rate (40!) which the cardiologist thought was unusual but nothing to be worried about. If palpitations keep bothering me I can have beta blockers.

I'm on beta blockers (atenolol) for heart palpitations! They have helped me immensely... but my problem is SVT, so too rapid of a heart rate. The only thing is that they can make you feel sleepy and run down, so whether or not you tolerate them can depend on if they're one of the short acting vs. long acting ones, what time of the day you take them, and also if you take them every day vs. just when you have symptoms. I take mine right before bed, so they kinda double-act as a sleeping pill... Haha.

All you people with cold offices: at least you can wear sweaters and things. The school has forked climate control, so one side of the hall is 60F and my side, it gets to over 90F. Even opening all the windows, it takes half the day to get reasonable in the room. It gives me migraines, all that horrible dry heat. The worst is having to listen to 90 kids whine each and every day about it, as if I can do something about it.

I'm not exaggerating! We have an official reporting weather station inside my classroom that measures inside temp as well as the outside stuff.

I am so incredibly bad at Mario for Wii. It's forking ridiculous.

This is probably a sign that I should do something productive.

I'm jealous. I am so sparing with my tahini because I'm scared of running out. You are brilliant!

I need tahini. I had an opportunity to buy some for a good price a few months ago and I didn't and I just think about that a lot

I'm out of tahini too, but apparently Wegmans now only carries some stupid fancy Greek brand that is $9 for a small jar.

Order it on the internet! It comes out to a bit over $4/16 oz jar! Amazon prime is your best friend...

i just bought some too as I was making Isa's red hot tahini and it was only *after* I had dumped the 1/3 cup of Frank's into the blender I discovered I had but a 1/4 cup tahini. fork me, that was spicier than I had intended.

^ this is exactly what I was making when I realised I was out of tahini. Except I only had one tablespoon and there was much sadness. I made a heroic effort to sprint to the store while there was a pot of white rice on the stove, but alas it was not meant to be.
