I can't even imagine a classroom with a door that led to the outside.

Live typing from overhearing conversation at the study table next to me:
"Do you ever feel like just not doing it today?" "YEAH it's called a school day... and the weekend."
"Why did this tiny book cost $170?" "It's consensley [sic] written!"

*also I totally identify with these people.

All this talk of school design has me thinking about:

My first elementary school was Pre-k through 8 in a single building. I want to say it was four stories? The elementary school where I live now is single-story, but it's only K-2.

I used to love that book! I read it over and over. Oh memories

i couldn't find a good representation of what schools in SoCal look like but basically, there are pathways that are usually covered with some kind of overhang to protect from rain. And our school had no cafeteria, if it rained, you ate outside under one of the overhangs but most days you ate on the grass or at some of the tables they had. And yeah most exercise was done outside.

Is that the one with the missing floor?

My high school was made of donuts! Not the delicious kind.



The main building (middle) was nice because if you couldn't find your classroom/locker/whatever you could just keeping walking round and round until you did.

I went to an elementary school that was made up of three round buildings. Each one had six classrooms around the perimeter that were open to a big empty area in the middle that could be used for various activities. It was kind of cool because the three 4th grade classrooms could shuffle into fast, medium and slow for math and reading and you just had to go around the partition to your reading classroom or whatever.

In fact, if I could be all of them all at once and be some kind of super-fly-dancin-soul-machine-super-hero, that'd be extra great.

Your birthday is 3 days after mine! Which means (counts on fingers...) Mars' is two days after? It's not a leap year, is it? Woo, birthday week triplets!

Absolutely it is. I have some in my fridge the now... what should I put it on? What?! Maybe just my tongue.

Mister Shadowfax won't let me hold him long enough to cut his nails, and he's also kind of mean when I try! But it turns out he's occasionally cuddly JUST long enough to cut one or two at a time. Also, it turns out when his claws are stuck in my jeans is an excellent time to sneak in and snip the offending claw. Little by little, I'm snipping the guys claws through trickery and subterfuge.

A woman who worked with me for a short while showed up at work today with brownies for everyone and a vegan chocolate peanut butter bar from Whole Foods for me. I don't remember ever telling her I was vegan. I only worked with her for 2 weeks while my mom was in the hospital and she was substituting. Now I'm wondering if other people talk about me being a vegan when I'm not there!

The peanut butter chocolate bar is really good, though.

Yep! Man, I loved those books.

My heat and stove are back in working order. They say they have fixed the problem (wrong fuses before?) and I'm hoping that it will also magically fix the 'my electric bill was way too high' problem, too. Only time will tell.

Also, I had consecutive friend dates with two ladies that I hadn't seen in ages and it was mighty nice catching up. Mighty nice.
