Apparently everybody at work (10-12 people) goes out together after work on Fridays.

I found out by accident; I wasn't supposed to know.

That's rotten of the LW. I once had work people organise a night out for when they knew I couldn't go and announced that it wasn't going to be rearranged. Once was bad enough. But every week. That is downright awful of them.

Oh I am so sorry Lavawitch. It must have been painful to find out. I hope there is some sort of non-jerky explanation....

Nah, not really. I'm used to this. Every job I've ever had, same scenario,since high school. The last time I was hurt was when I found out all the Whole Foods employees went and played pool at the place behind our store.

In college, same thing. I'd always be invited to the study groups, but never anything else.

At work, I am on good terms with everyone. I ask how their weekend went (nobody ever asks me), leave some muffins or other baked goods in the work room for people, and then go to my classroom.

Mostly I just wonder how they all keep these secrets so long.

I was jealous that my aunt has been yapping about seeing Lichtenstein at the Tate, then find out it just came from HERE. I used to do things and leave the house, but haven't in years. I think I've reached the point where doing things alone is just more depressing than staying home and sleeping (all I do unless I go to work or have to go to a dr appointment. No other reasons to leave the house.)

I'd have loved this exhibit; I adore pop art. I have Drowning Girl in my room. My big dream is to visit the Warhol museum in Pittsburgh, but of course I won't. I don't even go to things here.

Now I wonder how I manage to read the Wash Post fairly regularly but miss news of this huge exhibit.

I also want to go to the spy museum, the newseum, and vegan restaurants and my favorite Nat His exhibits. But I won't.

And the opera. Maybe I can find a Met simulcast to go to.

My neighbours must think I am some kind of pervert. Our walls are thin enough and they could probably hear the buzzing noise that has been coming from my bedroom the past 30mins or so. The last 5 mins I done a lot of shouting loudly.

Calm down people..... I was just using the epilator. What else would I be doing on a Saturday night other than torturing myself?

I know how shitty that feels, LW (even if it doesn't bother you now). My co-workers started a book club and didn't invite me to participate, even though everyone knows that I spend my entire lunch hour reading every goddamn day. This is one of the many reasons why I want to leave my job.

There is just something wrong with me that repels people before I ever say a single word. It's always been that way. Every first day of school I ever had was like that. I know it isn't stuff I say, because it never gets that far. When I do chat with people at work, it's all only about work stuff, random light weather chit chat, or whatever they say in response to whatever I ask them.

At lunch I'll try to say something light or ask them something. They will answer, then turn aside to talk to the other people.

When I bring in baked goods, people will send me an email or find me in the hall or something to say how good it was. That's probably partly why I do it (I also love to bake but can't eat everything and people often bring in donuts or something to share, so it's a "thing") because I know that if I do, I'll ha e some pleasant contact during the day.

Now it's too late though. I've never learned how to talk to people, so I just get awkward and say dumb things or idiotic babble, so I suppose it's just as well I am saved from doing that!

My hot sauce isn't at all spicy. They didn't have the kind I normally get so I got one that is "XXXtra HOT SAUCE" supposedly with habaneros. It tastes okay, but I wanted spicy! On the plus side, it is a product of Costa Rica which makes me happy.

LW, I'm kind of the same way. I have some friends, but I feel like I never know what to say to a lot of people and struggle to get beyond acquaintanceship.

Does Molly have to be quite so happy to go back upstairs? I can still hear her excited chirps.

I just started crying because I spilled some water. Pretty sure it's hormonal. I should probably make brownies.

After dinner I decided I wanted to bake something, and it was 11 minutes from googling bundt cake recipes to putting one in the oven (which was already hot from dinner). I will never understand people who buy cake mixes because it's "quicker".

See, this is an unfair comparison, because you are superwoman.

Nah, she is right. Same clean up, and the only time saved is the time mixing dry ingredients.

It's just that if you never bake and don't keep all the dry ingredients handy, it could be a little quicker. But even I can get a cake in the oven within 15 minutes, 10 of which are spent picking up the crepe that fell out of my scary pantry while trying to find the baking powder.

Not that my baked goods are any relation to poopie's (who is superwoman).

I feel much better. I just took a boiling hot shower using my hoarded sample vials of bath gel and body lotion and used up my last scrape of after bath powder. And sprayed enough no5 to kill a canary, which is why Molly is safely upstairs away from my fumes.

What LW said. Took me ~5-10 to make my speculoos laden brownies to put in the oven. Now I have ALL the deliciousness.

I do love the chocolate chip cookie bar things in VWaV, but I can't ever make those again. Not ever. I hold those personally responsible for my post-vegan weight gain. I can manage to eat brownies or cake or pie or whatever reasonably responsibly, but not those stupid cookie bars.

I'm sorry you're feeling bummed out LW. I feel like the same thing always happens to me at jobs and school. I'm not sure why. I also try to be engaging and bake and am always pleasant but I still get excluded from even going out to lunch (like every damn day) and after hours stuff, parties, concerts, even though we all have similar interests. Honestly, screw em. If they don't think we're cool or funny or nice enough to hang out, then they're probably not the kind of people we want to be around anyways. I refuse to believe that it's something inherently wrong with me, cause I know I'm a cool gal!

I'm sorry you're not getting a chance to go out and do stuff away from home. Is meetup.com very active where you live? I've joined a few groups on it and have been really happy with the results since everyone's there because they actually *want* to make friends and organize themselves by interest. It's sort of tough to put yourself out there, but I've met some really awesome people that way! Too bad we live on opposite coasts (I think?) because I love pop art and can never find anyone who wants to go to exhibits with me :(
