The company my husband interviewed at is giving him the runaround as he tries to schedule interview #2. It's stressing us both out since he's graduating in 2 months and my faculty advisor is pulling my meager funding in August. If he can't find a job I will have to drop out of my phd program or take out a $20k loan.

I am so sorry cououpita! I hope it works out well. Would he be willing to tell them that he has other offers but likes them best to put a bit of a fire under them? I've done a lot of interviewing and sometimes it is just so hard to get the people who need to sign off on hiring to find time to meet candidates bc they are superbusy and meeting candidates is their least urgent task. Its probably not a bad sign, just the nature of interviewing :)

Yeah, if you google tons of hits but here is the actual filing:

And although there are various tidbits, this is their primary complaint:

fund and directly provide for drugs, devices, and services which violate their deeply held

I'm in a bit of a rage today for no good reason. We've got some friends coming over later and I was cooking my fury into nibbles. I should write out little labels:

~ Cœurs d'artichaut grillés with a drizzling of grievance unresolved
~ Spanish olives marinated with mixed herbs and mixed feelings.

Hey, y'all below the Mason Dixon there, so I think it counts as the south. (Although when people ask me if I'm getting used to the weather 'up north' I give them a weird look.)

But, I know, right? It's getting close to breaking me. That's why I have to keep believing that warm weather WILL COME!

It doesn't help that this time last year it was unseasonably warm. Someone mentioned to me today that it was in the 20s C at the end of last March. mustard weather.

I finally made the butternut alfredo and it was amazeballs. I haven't made anything from a recipe is a very long time (dinners have almost exclusively been baked tofu and roasted brussels sprouts) and I am so relieved to get back into it with something that worked out so well and was so delicious. Also, tofu balls!!

True, we are below the Mason Dixon. And yet I still don't feel like I belong in any of the subforums (coughmodsmakeamidatlanticstatessubforumcough). Also, you and your positivity are the only thing getting me through this week of terrible weather. Maybe the sun will shine this weekend?

Oregon's been pretty ridiculously nice since the end of January. I should stop complaining when it rains since it actually has very often been almost summer-like here.

I've only had about 5 hours of sleep. That's on top of only having about 3-4 hours of sleep the other day and then working for over 11 hours. That's on top of the 3 hours of sleep the day before that and working 10 hours. I'm starting to feel sick.

In my mind, the south starts somewhere in southern Virginia. You start to get the southern feel, southern accents and what not there.

And hopefully the sun will come out, our snow stopped last night and today it is sunny.

I agree with you, linanil. I don't think Kentucky feels like 'the South' either really. I just like knowing where the Mason Dixon is. I grew up about 30-40 minutes north of it.

Marriage equality before the Supremes today and tomorrow. I am hopeful, but this court is so cynical and political and I just don't see them doing a sweeping verdict. But the GOP is slowly flipping now and the the public is pre marriage equality, so hope hope hope. I just wish this was a no brainer for the court. I'm nervous. Marriage equality is inevitable, can we just be there already please?

i'm sure the pope is a nice guy and all, but i'm having a hard time believing that
pope personally calling his newspaper deliver guy > publicly condemning millions of people he doesn't know because of their sexuality.
or > using his position to call attention to and publicly apologize/make changes from abuse.

Also, can the pope be considered to have a bully pulpit? i think so, maybe the father of all bully pulpits [so to speak].

4. McCrepe (McDonald’s)

Brace yourselves, Francophiles, for the McCrepe is here to sully the good name of crepes. A McDonald’s pancake is filled with any manner of things, from yogurt to bacon. McCrepes are a non-secret menu item in McDonald’s French locations.

My PPK-filter-addled mind finds this hilarious.

I do. I kind of hate it, but I guess it's better than vomiting from stress?

I get the runs when I'm nervous!

Also, got a mirror put on my car, finally. That was a good two years without one. Maybe more. I mean, I still can't see out of it because whoever hit it (and then ran, awesome!) broke the mechanism for adjusting it, but it's there! Distracting me with its shininess!
