I am now on the hunt for really big ridiculous glasses to wear in the making of my fake documentary.

Sometimes I look at the plans I make and forget I am getting as old as dirt. I believe I can be responsible and still not be a grown up.

My backpacking trip just bailed on me and I paid $120 for a car for two days that I can't cancel. Where do I go/What do I do? I'm thinking Mt Monadnock today and then a vegan potluck with a friend tonight. I might just end the reservation early and eat the cost because I really don't need a car most of the time. This is so maddening!

Was that your part of the cost or did you pay for the car for everyone without reimbursement? Either way, that's really shitty.

I was planning on going for a long walk before we have to be at the pub for our friend's birthday celebrations, but it's been pissing rain all day and I have no rain gear*, so I'm stuck inside. I tried using the treadmill at the gym a few days ago, and it was the worst, so I'm not doing that again. I might still go to the gym to do weights and ride the bike, but it's not the same. Also, I had to change the date of my walk because I forgot that I'd already made plans for the original date. Derp.

*Seriously - I don't have a rain coat of any kind, and my trainers have mesh tops and get soaked when it rains.

NYC movie tickets have now reached an all time ridiculous high of $14.50 for a regular showing, $10.50 matinee. no student discounts.

WHAT?! Why would anyone pay that? That's like 2 months of Netflix but you can't even pause the movie if you have to pee!

I am sitting incredibly carefully to not get cat hair all over my suit. I'm not sure that it's working.

This is pretty much what we pay (and I pay half because I am a blood donor, which is a nice incentive), and what we paid in Japan. Except we don't get the privilege of hearing the film in the original language- they're almost always dubbed and the funny bits get lost in translation- which is why I don't go to the movies.

Good Lard. I can see a movie in theater for like 5 bucks. We live in 1983 here.

In London it's £9-13 ($14-20). Imax would be more.

Around $12 here or $18 for IMAX. The really crappy theaters are cheaper, but not enough cheaper to make up for early last showings and uncomfortable seats.

I used to go to movies every week, but now it's too expensive unless it's something like a Bond movie in which case I'd pay anything remotely affordable. I do kind of want to go see Ironman 3.

$7.75/$10 here. Imax is like $3 extra I think. We do have one of those $1 theatres for the slightly older movies too.

Ugh! Movies were $7.50 when I was in high school (I'm 24), and they're 10ish now? I remember the price raising from 7 to 7.50 when I was around 17. Something like that. I never go.

's truth. I was browsing another vegan forum recently and someone had as their sig "The only animal product in my food is cat hair". Yup.

I have two "wrought iron" (not actually, probably) hanging baskets with that natural coconut fiber lining... and there are two scrub jays right now coming back and forth and taking beak fulls of the stuff to build a nest. It's so cute. Kinda makes me feel like I could cry?

Movies are about $12 here. We never fail to be amazed on the rare occasion we go to the movies and our admission is $25. There is a student discount, but only for grade school students (aka kids), not starving grad students.

Try to embrace it and go somewhere fun! (I don't know anything about Mt. Monadnock but I like the sound of it!). Do you need obscene amounts of stuff like toilet paper, cat litter, Trader Joes snacks, etc...? Go get them. Heck, go adopt a cat if you don't have one. :)

Cinema is 7/8 euros here (10 dollar-ish). I still love to go, and I know the reason its so expensive is because hardly anymore is going anymore. I really dont want the last cinemas to be closing, too

Yes, totally. Back in the day when I only had a car if i rented it or carsat, it was always an opportunity to have an adventure. Have you been to the beach lately? I'm assuming you're in New England, sometimes when I lived in RI I would just hop in the car and drive... most often to end up watching the sun go up or down in Provincetown. Go take pictures of the dunes!

I went on an adult learning taster course at our local college today, it was free but obviously they want you to sign up for stuff.

Anyway, the only creative one which fit in to my schedule was millinery- I had no idea how much non vegan stuff would be involved!

It was the first time I've ever really had to deal with a situation like it in public, I wasn't sure whether to leave but then I didn't want them to think I was awkward and rude as the course was free but equally I didn't want to make silk flowers and feather fascinators.

In the end the leader found some cotton fabric and some netting and i made my roses out of that and I'm really pleased! Mine was the most individual and I love it.

Plus the leader seemed pleased that she would know more in the future if the same happened. And the ladies I was sitting with were super nice and really supportive of me.
