I had a fitting done once and it was actually a comfortable experience, the woman who did it was really nice and she came into the change room with me so it's not like I was strutting around the boutique topless. Turns out, I'm a 34F.

I've only been measured at VS, but I measured at home with Internet instructions and got the same size, 34D, which is a tiny bit too big 3 weeks out of the month, during which I actually wear a 34C. I think I'm one of those weirdos who is legitimately halfway between sizes. Definitely use the measurement as a guide and still try stuff on.

You and I are boob twins. Please let me know if you come across a good brand, and I vow I will do likewise. I abhor bra shopping.

I have 4 Victoria Secret bras, all the same style. They have a lot of removable padding, but they fit better than any others I've ever tried. They are all about 4-5 years old now and still look like new, so I'll avoid any further bra shopping until I have no choice.

I never realized what HARD WORK it is to hit the back button in a web browser until I started using Mountain Lion and track pad gestures. Now my ipad is annoying me because I can't do the swipe to go backward.

Life is hard!

I'm in a sister size. The measuring tape says I'm 34D. There is no way I am a 34D. My back is weirdly small. Even the person who last measured me looked at me after and said that was the biggest miss she has had with the tape. So after forever in searching for bras and fitting them on with that woman she decided my true size is more like a 28H but they don't have anything that goes to that size so I make do with a 30G. I've only the one bra that fits me really well. It has been impossible ever since to get another one that fits me well because I am having to make do with a sister size. I don't like ordering bras online because I like to try them out beforehand.

I have never heard of this sister size business. I buy something that looks like how I perceive myself to look and don't try it on and it usually works out okay, I think. But the internet is always yelling at me to get properly fitted. I don't like change rooms! They are cold.

I didn't know there was a name for it but yeah that happens a lot. My friend measures as a 36C but wears a 38B because that fits her a lot better.

I measured at something like an F, but I think I wear a DD because the F was far too big for me. But it's been a long time since I was measured and my weight has gone up and down since then so I'm reluctant to get measured and buy a bunch of bras when it will probably change soon again anyway.

I had many years of being unable to buy a bra the right size when I was younger, back in the days when DD was the biggest cup size and the bigger the number, the better endowed you were, as in 46c was considered massive! I even went to the famous Rigby & Peller shop once as I'd heard they custom made bras but they simply wanted to alter a horrid old fashioned bra to fit me (I used to sew the backs to make them smaller myself!)
Since then I'm pleased to say I've had many happy years of buying from specialist shop Bravissimo. They measure you in your current bra, get a rough idea of your size, then work out your real size by trying on bras. They do 28 backs in large cup sizes. Depending on the cost of returns it might be worth a try Daisychain (returns are free in the UK or if you ever come over visit a shop.

I did not want to start a thread for this but maybe I can get some advice...

So I go the store after the gym on Sundays, I just pop in with my gym clothes on, no makeup, no cares. So like 2 weeks back I go in after work/doing errands, I have makeup on, my gym clothes are now jeans and a tee...No big deal to me. However the cashier says "hmm, you look different". I told her "i am not in my gym clothes"...Then she goes on to tell me how much better I look, how pretty I look with makeup...I basically said well, that is great but I do not feel the need to look pretty for people, especially at the gym.

So I have been to her line a few times now (she is always working when I come in). She has mentioned the makeup thing now a few times. Last night though she was bagging my stuff and was telling the cashier and everyone in line that when I have makeup on (which I did not, just got out of the gym) I look so pretty, like I have a prettier sister or something.

what the fizzle? I want to punch her. I feel really uncomfortable. What should I do? Manager? Because I already told her that my makeup days are not decided on going to the store.

That's not really sister sizing that's just that you're wearing a different size than you measure at, sister sizing would be like if you went into a store and told them your size and they were out so they sold you the next size up telling you it's basically the same thing because you can wear it, regardless of whether it's actually fitting you.

My problem is that I need two different cup sizes. I'm like a C on one side and a D on the other.

I'd get super serious with her and tell her in a serious voice something like, "Listen, you need to stop that. I've told you numerous times that it makes me feel uncomfortable when you talk about my appearance and not only that but it's just plain rude behavior. I have asked you to stop in the past and I'm asking you to stop now or else I will talk to your manager because I don't feel comfortable shopping here when you're working."

I will try that. It is so hard for me to speak up for myself...I do not understand what her deal is...The other store I go to, my neighbor works and she is always commenting on my weight loss, really personal and mean things (you are to skinny, my husband thinks you are too skinny). Even after telling her to please stop, that my weight is none of her business she still says shiitake.

At this point I just want to shop from home....

I think you should skip the warning and go straight to the manager. She's probably doing it to other people as well. Someone who doesn't have the decency to STFU about a customer's appearances does not deserve to have a job, and I'm sure someone else would be happy to be employed there.

This employee is super out of line. I agree that the manager would be the best person to talk to about this. The employee definitely deserves some disciplinary action (whether the manager gives them a warning or documentation or whatever), because it's not okay for her to be acting like that to anyone.

I can be super unreliable at returning things! I next to never send things back if they end up not fitting me. Otherwise I totally would.

I think the neighbor does it because she thinks it is okay, because we are neighbors. She also says racist things to me not knowing that she is insulting my boyfriend and my ethnicity. I can avoid her line for the most part. I avoid her on the block too...My other neighbors who are our friends dislike her so I am not alone.

The other lady, I think I will tell the manager, if she says something again. I will tell them that I am a loyal customer that comes in 1-3 times a week and I am really considering not coming in at all due to the harassment I am getting. See where it goes from there!

As for bra sizing - I have been to both Macy's & Victoria's Secret - both have great service. I like VS writes down the bra you are getting so you can keep the card in your bag for future purchases.

Your experience at the store makes me shudder, missmuff. So inappropriate! I remember being a young woman and my appearance/wardrobe/mannerisms/posture whatever superficial about me just constantly up for random evaluation by friends, strangers, co-workers whoever and it drove me NUTS. By the time I was around 26, it just wore me down and I started dressing way down, wearing sweats, toning down the make up just not to be noticed anymore. "No I don't actually want to know what you think about how I look. Really!" Certain people really think they are entitled to their most intrusive opinions. I wish I had just started saying something like that back then. I don't know. Argh. I don't have the personality that wants that sort of attention at all. I will say that with age, that sort of random and unwanted/uninvited attention has passed, at least for me. And for me, that's a relief!
