i just saw fire escape cat in my window box, peeping into my kitchen and being all wet. what is wrong with you, neighbor? why don't you want to keep your cat inside and put it in a basket and little bowties?

I have saved four lives tonight. I have two indoor cats, so they don't really get to do any hunting. Well, tonight a tree frog somehow found its way inside, which I didn't notice until Lucas went into full on stalker mode. Thankfully, I was able to catch it before the cats did any actual attacking. As I was releasing it out the front door, at least one of his friends decided this was a nice place to spend the night (IT'S NOT! IT'S THE HOUSE OF FROGGIE DEATH!). Repeat the same sequence, and I've now caught and released a total of 4 adorable little tree frogs in the last 15 minutes. The cats are completely distraught, and keep staring at the last place they saw a frog.

there are too many stray cats in my neighborhood! I can't help them and it makes me feel so sad! Also, for many of them I don't know if they're strays or just cats that get let out during the day. I hope they have somewhere to go at night! there's a cat hiding from the rain on a porch across the street. I hope he's someone's kitty! :(

Surprisingly, some cats actually enjoy being out in that weather. Anytime we have bad weather I don't see my guy at all, sometimes for a few days. He doesn't go far though. Apparently he bunks in with the dog next door then goes to the house 3 doors up for food then to my other neighbour for snuggles. I wish so bad that he was an indoor cat but nope he is an escape artist. When I'm home I have the windows and doors open constantly for him to come home. He only seems to come in when he wants to play with the dog for a while. So what I'm trying to say is..... cats are smart.... they know where to go for certain things and do what they want. I still wish my guy was an indoor baby though. I want kitty cuddles on tap!

I read this as 'in your window box peeing into your kitchen' - like his butt was hanging over into where your window was open - and I thought wow, I would be feeling a bit cross with the cat if his pee was coming in my kitchen window rather than feeling sorry for it, acr is too nice!

Disturbingly, we noticed on Canada Day that our oven would not turn off. We turned off ALL the breakers, and completely cut off the power, but it was still a blazing 450 degrees. Finally we unplugged it and have left it open, but it's still, days later, a bit warm. There is a poltergeist in my oven and I don't wanna be a raw foodist! Thankfully, my toaster still works, so I've been supplementing with toast. But it's just a plain old toaster and not a toaster oven, so I can't bake tofu in it or anything. We don't have a microwave. I'm hungry!

Aw man. I lived a few months without a working oven so I feel your pain. Luckily it broke before I discovered the joy of baked tofu.

OK..... Hayfever is killing me. All I done was spend 5 minutes in the garden cutting back some damn weeds. As revenge for making me feel completely crepe I poured a load of vinegar over them.

Oh man, that sucks. I also lived without an oven for a few months but at least I had a microwave. Though if you ran it more than two minutes it shorted out the entire floor. I ended up buying a combo stove/oven countertop device.

Where is the best slaw recipe? I prefer vinegar over mayo, but a little mayo's okay if it's really the BEST EVER. I have most of the cookbooks.

I'm not a big slaw person, but I LOVE the one in AFR.

I found this enlightening, and useful for improving any slaw.

Salt it heavily, let the water drain out for a few minutes, then rinse it off and dry it, and you will avoid soggy slaw. Also: broccoli!

My mom came home and handed me a shopping bag, shouting "vegan vegan vegan!" Inside were ABC cookies, soy delicious coconut ice cream, and an Amy's cheeseless pizza. Now she keeps saying, "Didn't I find good stuff? Vegan vegan vegan!" It's like she's a robot who was programmed to yell "vegan" three times after every sentence.

I made too much food for tonight, thinking we'll just eat it at a family gathering this weekend if it doesn't get eaten. I only invited 4 people over (two female friends and a couple that we know, but aren't super close to), and one just flaked. It's going to be kind of weird if just one or two show up to hang out with me and my husband...

Best! I wish I had programmed my owlbot to say 'veganveganvegan' now.
