You bet we are! Wouldn't miss it. We'll be driving up Saturday morning and spending the afternoon there. Looking forward to Taymer Mason's demo, APieCalypse Now marshmallows, and hopeful run-ins with PPKers! I think j-dub is here now, and said she'd be going!

I'm sick of being charged bottle deposit on coconut water at Duane Reade. There is no label saying bottle deposit on the packaging. I'm also pretty sure it shouldn't be taxed. So I wrote to Duane Reade and complained. I guess the tax depends on if you consider coconut water a type of juice. But definitely there shouldn't be a bottle deposit.

The fridge in our kitchenette at work is disgusting. Someone called to complain about the smell on Monday morning and they came and installed two air cleaners. No one has yet come to clean the fridge.

Today, because I have a bit of time, I started to pull and toss stuff. The age winner is a bottle of plum sauce best before September 2009. The disgusting winner is a hard boiled egg in an opaque plastic container which I foolishly opened, not wanting to throw out someone's actual lunch. There was so much more - ugh.

Cory Booker, talking about the pressure to get married and have children.

Quote:
In a recent chat, Sen. Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y), the veteran master D.C. operator, told Booker he had a hole in his heart that he didn’t even realize. “I said, ‘What do you mean, senator?’ . . . And he said, ‘You don’t have children.’ ”

I had a friend who literally had a hole in her heart and didn't realize! It had nothing to do with having children or not having children though.

I had a check up today, and I got a pap, an STD panel, a skin biopsy, and blood drawn. AND I have to go back tomorrow to get a thigh muscle checked out that's been causing me problems for two weeks.

Geez louise. I'm tuckered from being poked and prodded. Good news is the skin condition I have had since I was seven was finally taken seriously- she checked it under a microscope and then, when it proved to not be fungus or yeast related, took a biopsy to send to the lab. I either have a really atypical case of eczema or lupus. Or something else really uncommon/atypical. How did doctors just not bother taking this seriously for over ten years? I could have lupus and my primary care doctor from ages eleven to twenty shrugged and said, "scrub it with Selsun."

Good news is, she totally applauded my veganism instead of demanding to know everything I ate. I told her I felt good, felt healthy, watched my intake of vitamins, and she said, "Good for you! That's so great."

Hahaha! I just thought that was the most patronizing thing ever, I didn't realize there was a possibility that Charles Schumer is a medical psychic.

I love Cory Booker, and given what an amazing life he has had, I think its pretty STFU Parents to imply that his life is somehow missing something.

Tofulish, there was just something about the way it was worded that made me think of her. She actually got it patched and is in good shape.

And I agree in the admiration for Cory Booker. I can't imagine thinking that he is some how less than because he doesn't have children.

How did it go?

Thanks for asking! Compared to other areas I've had tattooed, super easy. The elbow area kind of sucked, but that didn't last long. Only took a little over an hour, and I have a couple that have taken 8-9+, so no big deal! It was also my first time with the artist, and I definitely plan to go back to her. I really like being able to support a female artist, since there are so few out there. Photo is in the tattoo thread in the living room.

I didn't realize how out of shape I'd let my arms get...just did 30 minutes of pilates focusing on the arms and now they're just...shaking. Quit it, arms!

Seriously! I had to lower out of some of the exercises! I used to have such strong arms. Now I know what I need to work on.

I had to take my dog for a second walk this evening, because she had a bad case of the sillies. As I was walking, I saw a car slow down and the driver rolled his window down and started shouting, "Hi! Hi! Hi!" It was that same creeper who pulled over to talk to me last week. Ugh. At least he didn't stop this time.

Raspberrycomplaint, that sucks! Does he live in your neighborhood? Stay safe.

Awesome news of the day: my little sister went veg! We spent 1:30 hour last night on Skype swapping recipes.

The smoke alarm keeps beeping at random intervals, waking me up. I've already been awake and hour. I tried to pull it down to take out the battery but even with a stepstool I'm too short to reach it. It's finally stopped. I think it was telling me it needs a new battery?
