So last night somebody posted this list of 10 Things To Do Alone On A Friday Night, In Order Of How Depressing They Are. At the time I was sitting in bed reading stuff on cracked.com, putting me at level 9.

Numbers 5 and 7 would be my Friday night plans on a regular basis if I didn't usually work on Friday nights. Also, the "make a date with a tub of hummus" part of number 9 is always appealing to me (unless it's body hummus. Baba ghanoush is my intimate condiment of choice).

Worked until 9, drove home in terrible snow and wind, retrieved the recycling bins from down the road, ate a pile of crepe, and now it's pretty much bed time. I am living on the edge.

My friend gave me a massage, I came home and talked to T for a bit, now he's out for the evening and I'm about to have a hot shower, do my hair and paint my nails. Then BED.

My supervisor called because someone didn't show, so I'm at work manning the library circulation desk. Such an exciting evening.

YESSSSSSSSS oh god. Are you using phones or has your committee ventured into Google Hangouts territory?

Me and my YAF cohorts (maybe you know them!) have used Google Hangouts ALL THE TIME. But we have at least one older adult friend who changed an entire form structure because she was trying to fill it out, routinely can't figure out google docs and has a lot of trouble joining hangouts and ran in to trouble with the hangouts with other older adult friends.

...so we're on freeconferencecall.com calls. yay.

Experimenting with seitan and listening to Emily of New Moon on audiobook. Also, I won free brunch on Sunday.

I hate Google Hangouts with all the hating a wee Quaker can muster. My computer really just can't handle that much action. I don't know if it's the computer itself or something related to the internet connection, but I actually can't have Hangouts open at the same time as anything else on the computer, including anything in Drive. Last time I had a committee meeting that way, I was clerking the meeting and I couldn't see a single document. Someone had to read the agenda to me. Also, people's connections inevitably get lost, so someone's always drifting in and out of the meeting. But honestly, even if all the technology worked just fine, I would still not be a fan. There's something creepy about being able to see all the faces of the people with whom I'm talking but not actually being able to make eye contact. Plus, when we have a moment of silence, who knows if people are actually having a moment of silence or if they're silently checking Facebook?

I recently left a (non-Quaker) board position, mainly because all our meetings were on Google Hangouts and I just couldn't deal anymore. I'll put up with it for Quakers, occasionally, but honestly, after my term on this committee is up, I may just discern that I'm not led to serve on committees that meet by Google Hangouts anymore. :P

I went to an opening, talked to a bunch of people for like 2 hours (I know why networking is part of my job/life but I do NOT love it), saw my contemporary theory professor who told me she "really enjoyed reading my response papers" (wah! aw! I love her!) saw some really overdramatic video art, drank fizzy water, had a panic attack and left before 8:30pm

Put some photos on the wall, then made salad, soup, and apple crisp. Ate those with the Mr. and now we're watching survival shows on netflix. It's pretty nice.

CQ fair enough! I don't find it much better than the other services but I can't keep disembodied voices differentiated well/can't pay attention nearly as well.

The rest o fmy evening involved a treck outside to get some hard cider, animal crackers and vidchatting with S.

Yeah, I hate conference calls too. I like meeting with people in person. We've been doing that for 350 years, haven't we? *grumbles and eats oatmeal*

I'm working. Which consists of feeding cat and dogs which sounds like fun but right now isn't. And in hoping Cards Against Humanity is still going when I'm done.

Started making dinner super late, so we wont be eating for another 30 min (aka 10 pm). Having a couple glasses of wine to tie me over.
