Wow, I actually find their response pretty cool. I know they're stating that their flavored salt isn't vegan but I like how knowledgeable that letter is, how respectful they sound and how they actually give a practical solution.

I agree, it's a very helpful letter and shows that they understood what veganism is, and rather than just saying, "Sorry, we have nothing for you!" they offer the alternative suggestion.

I've eaten the popcorn at a couple of other theatres and haven't had any issues, so either theirs didn't have dairy or it isn't much. My body is like a dairy radar now. :P

My guess would be that it's "natural flavors" etc. The kind of stuff that might have vague remnants of animal, might have once touched a vegetable, but almost certainly comes out of a factory along the Jersey turnpike. That one appears to be vegan, since the only declared allergen is soy. They have to declare milk even if it's under natural flavors. (One of the oatmeals we sell at Weight Watchers is like this.)

Food is always so expensive at theaters so I always just bring my own food. I like to have a salty option and a sweet, so I bring whatever i have at home: cookies, pretzels, tings, cupcakes etc. Pretty much anything I can just shove in a bag/pocket/backpack.

My favorite was for the final Harry Potter movie, though. I brought a whole meal: Steak and Kidney (bean) Pie, Treacle Tart, and butter beer cake (that had previously been in the shape of a snitch). I just packed it all into containers and grabbed a couple of forks. We ate it in the theater while we waited since we had to go super early to get good seats.

Awww man, what the hell. I'm going to a Cinemark to see Le Miz tomorrow. I really wanted some damn popcorn, but popcorn without salt is just nasty! Sadface...

Bring your own little jar of salty nooch sprinkles? I bet Penzey's sammich sprinkle would be good, because Penzey's sammich sprinkle is good on EVERYTHING.

I actually just made nooch popcorn at home this weekend for the first time ever! It was tasty. But there is def something about movie popcorn that is extra delicious. Oh well!

No clue what Penzey's sammich sprinkle is. Have to look that one up!

My mind gets the same seizure at the thought of eating in the theater as it does thinking of eating in the theater's restroom. "No. Don't!"

Although, I have seen one movie in-theaters within a 4 year time span...
