I agree. The registry is really to make things easier for people and to help avoid duplicates. Since we were older, we asked for no gifts and didn't do a registry when we got married but we still got gifts and I was really touched by the ones we got.

Yeah, you don't have to stay on registry at all, especially if you see something neat at a small independent store or something. But you could just as easily go for a gift card at one of the places they've registered.

For my shower everyone gave me money and gift cards, and I was hugely appreciative of that.

Cool, thanks for the input! She's the wife of my husband's co-worker. He and the co-worker are good friends, and we're invited to their wedding, but I don't know her very well at all. I've only met her twice, once at our own wedding and last month at a dinner out. So I'm not sure if I was invited to be polite or what and my husband is pressuring me to go.

I think I'll probably just get a gift card. That's a great idea! I really don't want to give a partial set of linens or a measuring cup at a shower. I know she cooks and bakes a lot, so maybe a gift card to a kitchen store or Crate & Barrel.
