Bought some stuff from Herbivore and Food Fight! over the weekend, but I'll pony up some more cash after I get paid tomorrow.

Thanks Panda! :D We're only 28% of the way there! We need a lot of help between now and September 15th! One of the recipients is Northwest Chimpanzee Sanctuary, and they need the money MORE THAN EVER after a devastating fire earlier this week. The chimps and humans are all okay, but: Quote: On the afternoon of Monday August 13, the Taylor Bridge wildfire spread through the hills surrounding Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest. The fire spread very quickly and engulfed much of the sanctuary property and many of the neighboring properties. The cause of the blaze is not yet known and it continues to spread for miles beyond the sanctuary. We have not had time to make a full accounting of the effects of the fire, but the residence on the property is damaged and the grounds are burned. There are still hotspots burning and their well water was contaminated. (You can read about the fire on their blog: http://www.chimpsanctuarynw.org/blog/)

You can still count on a cash donation from us! We're just a little in between solid money flow right now so i've been holding off, but it'll be in there before the ride.

I'm trying to donate using my Visa, but I keep getting an invalid card type message. I've tried several times and Visa's icon is there on the screen as if it is accepted. I'll try again later but if anyone else donated using their visa today--did you have any trouble? Or do they just not accept visa?

So they do take it!

Will the donation page stay up for a bit after the ride? I'm still waiting for my birthday money to be deposited to my American account (it's been over a month now). :(

^Thanks! I just tried again and still nada, still "invalid card type". I called the help line and they're closed for the day. I just used the same card earlier today and it was fine. I have an old card (but not expired! still valid another year or so) so I dunno. It's like I punch in the numbers and it doesn't take them right away, it knows something I don't, it doesn't even get to the point where Visa would verify the charge to begin with...

I just remembered I got in a brief wee fankle at first with the country thing and it wouldn't accept my payment initially because... of something I neglected to do. I think it was about having to choose the non-US country before filling out any other deets? That's not the issue, is it?

I'm having a similar problem on another site though despite the problem I just donated to this. arrggghghhhh banks!

I just tried that, too (filling in my country first) and it's still saying invalid card type. I think Visa categorizes cards somehow by the first four digits and I'm wondering if the fundraising data enterers left off the four digits that I have on mine when they set up this donation account-- or overlooked it or sumpin but I don't know. That's my theory because it does recognize the numbers as a Visa card (i.e., the other cards stay greyed out and Visa becomes ungrey when I enter my numbers) but then it says invalid card type when I go to the next field. I dunno. I feel like I dotted every i and crossed every t on their form. I know my card is valid because I just used it earlier today elsewhere (in Toronto) without a problem. I guess I'll try when their office is open again.
Don't let this discourage anyone else from donating though! This is clearly an individual problem.
