Hello I'm "Carlos" (actually Mordechai). I was born in Kibbutz Holit, Israel and made yerida (I can here any Jews out their gasping) to New York a few years ago to protest the draft in Israel. Turns out America is great so I am staying here and have applied to college.

I try to eat all vegan and organic. If I were in Israel, I would vote Meretz ;)

Hi, I'm Stephen from Vancouver. Decided it was time to finally log on here. I love tofu and I hate kale.

Hi there. I used to be procrastiknitter on the old boards. I am back at it after a long absence. I have been lurking for a while, but finally got off my duff and re-registered. I missed you guys!

Hi everyone!

I'm new to PPK and Vegan Mofo (although I always read!).

I'm a gluten free vegan from the UK and would love to chat to some other vegans :)

Hello. Obligatory "at least one post" and somewhat rambling introduction.

I am a new to cooking vegetarian and vegan, trying to figure things out as a person who doesn't cook much to begin with, but I want to learn because I hate feeling like I don't know how to feed myself! My husband usually does the cooking. He's on board with being at least vegetarian at home, and he wants to go dairy free.

We don't buy meat on our grocery runs anymore, and have been ovo-lacto-vegetarian at home for about 3 months now. He eats meat when we go out to eat sometimes. I mostly don't, and am starting to find it less and less appealing. We have had enough meals that were actually vegan that I began to think it might not be as difficult as it's sometimes made it out to be, though I am still hesitant to let go of eggs, milk, and honey. I definitely have no problem eating vegan desserts prepared by others, being now fully convinced by a delicious hummingbird cake from a restaurant we go to often. :)

Hubs is out of town on a business trip this week, so I went to the store and got a few items that I have read about and wanted to try since he is less adventurous than I am food-wise. I have discovered that I quite like nutritional yeast and seitan is pretty good.

I picked up Veganomicon on Kindle recently, and want to try some recipes from it soon.

I have 2 goals that I am working on:
1. Figure out a vegan massaman curry recipe that we both like - my first attempt wasn't quite right, but it was a place to start.
2. Find good milk/cream replacements that go well with my teas. I'm a tea freak, and love making tea lattes. Coconut milk works pretty well with masala chai, almond/coconut works ok with Assam. Still getting used to the changes in taste and frothiness.

So that was probably more than you wanted to know, but oh well. :)

Hi everyone, I'm Chrissy (but I also go by Sneaky online).

I'm a bit afraid to mention this, but I'm not entirely vegan. :hides from the pitchforks and mob:

Thing is, I have a metric ton of food allergies. So, no fish, shellfish, sweet potato, pear or blue cheese. On top of that, I'm sensitive to gluten, chemical preservatives, artificial flavors and dyes. Then to top everything off, I've been told that dairy can aggravate my already crazy asthmatic lungs, so now I'm trying to give that up as well.

Kinda in the middle of a depressed mode right now because I really can't eat much out there. So one of my friends suggested looking up vegan recipes and it's actually working out. Sometimes I have to substitute the flour, pears or sweet potato but other than that I eat nearly everything else thats vegan out there. XD

Hello! I'm Tiina from Finland and I decided to register because I'm taking part of the VeganMofo for the first time. Think it might be even more fun if I get that communal feeling up by chatting with other participants. I have been running a blog about Finnish food culture with a heavy lean on seasonal and foraged stuff for a few years now. I'm not really a vegan but I do prefer vegan choices, especially when it comes to my own kitchen.

Hi, I'm Katherine - posting to introduce myself and forestall deletion. I've been vegetarian for ages (since tweendom), but only vegan for a couple of months. So far, I've been feeling great and eating wonderful food and wondering why I didn't make the transition sooner. I'm a professor living in a West Coast college town, and I have a husband and kids who are vegetarian but not (so far) completely vegan. I'm here for parenting stuff, food porn, and general inspiration - and maybe to figure out something to put on bread besides Earth Balance, which is not really doing it for me.

Hi! My name is actually Stormy & I have been vegetarian for 6 years. I have just recently converted to veganism & I'm just here to hang out or get random helpful tips. I have been living in a boarding high school for the past 4 years but I make all of my own food so it is definitely a big lifestyle change. I also love to work out, I want to be a vegan body builder when I get out of school. I had dreads if that is interesting, or does it just make me sound like a hippie? My shirt has 867-5309 on it.. ok I'm done.

Hey there! I'm Sue, a fairly 'green' (see what I did there?) vegan, living in Atlantic Canada aka 'Vegan Wasteland'. Love ppk because I don't need to have a superstar, vegan food Mecca nearby in order to make the food. Which always turns out. A little too well, judging by the size of my butt ;-)

Hello, I am a newbie vegan from Albuquerque, New Mexico. I have just been eating vegan for a few days now though I've been in the transition process for a couple months. I tried the vegan lifestyle before and wasn't successful but I feel better able to handle it now. So far so good and I'm having fun eating healthy.

Hiya, My name is Avalon. I actually have been a member, since 2008 or 09, but for some reason my account doesn't exist anymore, so I thought that I'd say Hi again. I live in Northern California and have been vegan for 15 years.

Hi guys!
I'm Alicia, live in North Carolina, vegan for 3 years. I am a mother to two teen girls, 8 chickens (two are roosters, and they rock!), and 16 cats, all vegan. ;) My addictions include coffee, Matt & Nat bags, Vegetarian Shoes Para boots, and mangoes. ;) I love tater tots, and I eat them with ketchup and Veganaise. ;)

After a year working/traveling in S.E. Asia, I'm back in Brooklyn for a while. I've been vegan since 1996, and especially love S. Indian dosas with coconut chutney and the bloody marys at Pine Box Rock Shop. I just took an aerial pilates class, so I'm wearing black leggings and a black tank top.

Hello!
My name is Shell!
New to the forum.
I've been vegan a little under 3 years.
I'm from Florida, though hoping to move out of state next spring to a more vegan friendly area.
I love punk music and I share my home with a parrot named Sami and a bearded dragon rescue named Bruce.
