Its like battling the hydra on my parenting group's FB page! I'll explain all about estrogen in dairy milk, link to the articles people post here about science showing that there is a decrease in breast cancer risk and no proof of any effect on hormones in growing kids, and then eventually you'll have 10 people posting the same links by Mercola and explaining that he is the only one you should trust because all the other doctors are trying to sell you something.
And then you quit, because you can't roll your eyes anymore without feeling dizzy.
And then the next post hits about "OMG SOY WILL MAKE YOUR SONS' TESTICLES SPROUT BOOBIES."
yeah, that. I just stopped trying with her. Argument over.

This. It never stops being amazing to me the way most people just open their mouths and put stuff in without even wondering about what's in it, where it came from, or even what it actually is. It's like life is one long series of random free samples they're always pushing at Costco or Sam's: don't ask questions, just open up and swallow!

when my husband wants to go through a drive thru and gets mad at me when i dont order anything. he says it irritates him that because of my diet i dont eat anything or i make things complicated when i eat at a restaurant. so i guess my pet peeve is people judging me for MY decisions about MY body and MY kids bodies. dont they get it? pet peeve #2: idiots.
The #4 book on Amazon when you search for "gluten free vegan" is most definitely not vegan. It might be egg free and dairy free, but it's not vegan.
It was a paleo book and I know this because I was just bisqueing about this today! There are paleo books whether you search for 'vegan' or go right to their vegetarian category.
It didn't say paleo, but I definitely wasn't expecting the ENTIRE entrees chapter to be nothing but chicken. (Did cavemen eat chicken?) I bought the Kindle version, then returned it last night. I wish there had been a box for me to explain my "other" reason for returning...that this book is NOT VEGAN and should not have been in my search results at all. :\

i get amazon "recommendation" emails and i get a lot of paleo recommendations. im not sure i understand why amazon is lumping the 2 together. they seem really far apart in their core points. isnt paleo really meat heavy?
seems odd!

I think it's because amazon has lumped vegetarian/vegan and vegetable cookbooks together, and paleo cookbooks tend to be vegetable heavy as well as meat heavy.
ETA But yeah, I find it incredibly annoying. I miss the old vegan cookbook category. It seems like I miss out on seeing new cookbooks this way.

It slightly bothers me that seitan sounds like Satan. Unless you really pronounce it like say-TAN it sounds like you're eating devilry.
I always pronounce it like satan. and actually the say-TAN/say-TAHN pronunciation is one of my pet peeves.
I say seitan like "SAY-tan", but satan like "SAYT'n"
