the spelling "cheez" makes me think of velveeta for some reason. while yummy and probably not chemically all that similar to actual cow cheese im guessing velveeta is still not vegan.

man now i want some velveeta!

In the 48 hours or so that I was away from this thread, there have been like 3 pages of oreo talk. I love you guys. and I love warm oreos: fried oreos, oreo brownies, oreos in cookies. I'll have to add oreo pancakes to this list. genius! I just discovered that a friend of mine likes the cream part most. I like the cookie part. True love?

I love the cream part best too. Didn't they sell Oreos with double quantities of cream at sometime?

if you're already vegan you know that you can make mac n cheese without cow cheese. if it was an omni friend i wouldnt have cared cause maybe they wouldnt have understood you can make cheese without cheese.
g

Oh god yes. I once posted about some faux-chicken dish that I made and an internet friend on FB was like "ugh, chicken - I thought you are veggie like me"...I wanted to put "um, actually I am vegan and don't consume milk and eggs like you do"...

My boyfriend's manager brought in vegan-gf cookies last week (a box of Lucy's) and asked the bf if he has ever heard of them...She did not offer him one because those are like her diet GF cookies she needed for lunch or something...The one time they bring in vegan cookies on accident.

I feel like this has to be said especially for Lisa...... "Oreos." I like "Oreos." I dream of "Oreos." Someday I would love to lie in a bathtub full of "Oreos." I love "Oreos" so much I would eat one out of an asparagus.

"OREOOOOOOOS"

You won't get the protein you need unless the air quotes are there. Fact.

I finally tried the Daiya cheddar wedge the other day, and it is eerily similar to what I remember Velveeta tasting like.

Damn you all! Today I bought the only vegan Oreo imitation that can be found here (technically abroad), and I don't really like it that much.

Some guy at a bar offered me piece of cheese of dubious origin, cause you know everyone at bars has cheese on them, and when I said no thank you, he goes "What are you vegan or something?" all obnoxious like, I was like yea......... because you really have to be vegan to not want to eat food that came from someone's pocket.

I feel like Liz Lemon is the only person who would take cheese from a stranger.

i love this. i wouldn't accept the cheese, for many, many reasons, most of which have nothing to do with being vegan, but i would be so excited that he had been carrying it around. it's so low on the list of things you might guess a person would hand you. i need to start carrying more baffling objects around in my pockets. i always have ginger candy and an origami frog or something, but those are mild, pleasant surprises at best. i want to know i'm holding the spanish inquisition of pocket reveals--"no one expects a ring box containing a shriveled bit of carrot in the shape of andrew jackson's head!"

Do you guys all hate vegans who hate Oreos and Daiya? Because I am one of those people.

So you're a vegan who hates Oreos and Daiya? Or you're a vegan who hate vegans who hate Oreos and Daiya? Because I'm confused about what will happen if we ever meet at a corner cafe and you see me stuffing my face with Oreos and Daiya.

You guys are me vegan pet peeve today!! I was so close to buying Oreo like cookies at Whole Foods because of this thread, but I didn't, and now I am regretting it. I don't even know if I like Oreos as much as I enjoy eating them.

I knew what you meant because I know your stance on daiya. But I totally don't hate you for it. :)

I mean, they aren't my favorite tasting, but I like dunking them in milk.
