So Wyvern and I were having an "argument" over acronym usage. He's saying that people say "mop" for the new WoW expansion because it makes sense, and if it were something else (ex. Rop) they wouldn't call it that.

I countered by mentioning that people call Vegan with a Vengeance, VWAV. This includes people I've heard say it out loud... to rhyme with Suave. "Vwav."

So... do you ever call it "Vwav"? Do you call it "V.W.A.V."? Or just "Vegan with a Vengeance"?

i say vee-wave, because it's the friendly, welcoming invite to so many new vegans.*

*i might have just made this up to justify my irrational pronunciation.

I say vee-wave for VWAV and em-oh-pee for MoP. I have never actually heard anyone say "mop" out loud but I also don't usually talk about WoW with anybody in real life.

Me too!
Often when there are two consonants at the start of an acronym, I pronounce it the same sort of way, separating the first consonant from the rest of the word. I only recently realised that maybe that's a weird thing to do (do most people say "pee-cos" for PCOS? Or do they say p-c-o-s, for example?)

I say the whole title. Can't pronounce acronyms in English, I end up reading them in my mind in Italian and that sounds weird.

i don't say "vee wav" because it reminds me of the long lost PPKer, bless her soul, VWAM, who was vee-wham (someone please tell me she's on here under a false name?)

if i do apprev, it's "V with a V".
My acronym skills have gone all sketchy since living through Japan (abbreviate by first one or two sylls-- it would probably be "VegaVen") and here in BR they make every acronym into a word, however possible. So I do try to say the letters.
And don't get me started on VOIP. Voip is not a verb.
