On boxing day we went my sister in law's dad & stepmum's house. I offered to bring vegan food but they were having none of it and made an awesome veggie curry, homemade samosas and loads of other stuff. It was so lovely.. i ate LOADS!

I had the most amazingly delicious three-course meal at my (omni) neighbours' flat last night - it was fabulous!

My sisters are so great and always veganize everything they possibly can. For Christmas brunch we had veganized french toast casserole, boozy citrus fruit salad, orange glazed scones, potatoes that were supposed to be roasted but turned out to be more mashed (but still yummy). I'm still full days later. My sisters-in-law are also great like that. They either make everything vegan for us or make one vegan and one omni version. Plus I just love being around all of them...not a bad one in the bunch! I am so lucky!!

My fil pretty much bought all the vegan deli items at whole foods for me and my husband for Christmas eve dinner. It was great! They're also huge fans of the beyond meat curry salad and it was cute to hear them go on about it. Especially because his girlfriend's crossfit-obsessed son was there and ate half a side of beef and couldn't stop talking about how much protein you need to do crossfit. They drowned him out a bit. :)

Yay!

Oooh where?!

my 72 year old neighbor gifted us with a cat card and a large sack of raw almonds from a local orchard. i have been toasting them for sweets & trail mix the last few days! maybe they need some sriracha from my stash?

vegan gifts = do not have to be big, the lil things are awesome!

I recently attended a funeral for a family member. There was a (sandwich) meal afterwards, I said I'd come, but told my family they didn't have to pay for me because there would be nothing I could eat anyway. My aunt arranged for one of my nieces to get me 3 different vegan spreads and buns. I was touched.

My pet awesome is that I have a good excuse not to eat tough, stringy meat. Had to serve 'braised steak' to residents at work yesterday and I have two painful blisters on my finger from cutting it into bite-sized peices for them. (Of course no one managed to eat much anyway as it was too tough for them to chew.)

I'm impressed that you posted this in the vegan awesome thread, rather than the pet peeves one! I would not have been able to turn this experience into a positive...

I love how forking fancy I feel when I make basics from scratch, because it makes the most sense when being vegan. Tracking down vegan faux meat and baked goods can be annoying and/or expensive. So my broke asparagus gets to be fancy by saying I spent the day making artisan bread and homemade sausages.

This is something that boggles me sometimes. It's so easy! I've ben doing it since I was a kid! So when people act all impressed about it, I get a bit confused.

I once blew someone's mind by mentioning making salsa. "You can do that? You can make salsa?" Um, yep, I can chop tomatoes, jalapenos, onions, and cilantro and throw them in a bowl with salt, lime juice, and crushed garlic and stir it all up. I'm talented.
