Let's say you were driving to a workshop/conference/thingy. You need to be there by 2pm. Google Maps says the trip will take 4 hours and 21 minutes. You're leaving on a weekday, so your trip may be affected by the morning rush hour.
What time do you leave? (Like, your key's in the ignition, you're really leaving now time.) What time do you get up in the morning, to ensure that you leave at that time? What do you take into consideration in making this decision?
Also, how likely are you to spend your time the night before you leave consulting the internet about your Super Important Life And Death Major Major Life Decisions, while procrastinating on packing for your trip? :)

I'd leave as early as possible and have lunch or something near the location. And take a shower and pack everything the night before. And not play on the internet until lunch.

Shower is taken! And really, just about everything I won't need in the morning is already packed. I'm just antsy about forgetting something. ;-) I also don't have internet on my phone, so I definitely won't be playing around on the internet once I get on the road. Plus, I'm the only one driving, so even if I had internet on my phone, I sure as hell wouldn't be using it!!

I would probably leave at like 8am, planning on being able to grab lunch when I hit town early (and then actually ending up getting stuck in traffic or lost, and barely making it by 2pm.) I would get up at 6:30 to leave at 8. It doesn't take me that long to get ready, but I like to have extra time in the morning so that I don't end up with my key in the ignition way later than I mean to.

What time do you leave? (Like, your key's in the ignition, you're really leaving now time.) 8am.
What time do you get up in the morning, to ensure that you leave at that time? I would set alarm for 6am with good intentions, but then hit snooze until about 7.50am.
What do you take into consideration in making this decision? That everything takes much longer than I think it will, and I'll probably get lost.
Also, how likely are you to spend your time the night before you leave consulting the internet about your Super Important Life And Death Major Major Life Decisions, while procrastinating on packing for your trip? :) 100% likely. Then I would decide to just go to bed and pack in the morning. So I would set my alarm for 5am instead of 6am, but still hit snooze until 7.50am

What caterpiller said. But I'd probably plan on leaving at 8 and really leave around 8.30-8.45. More likely later than that. Because I'm the worst at getting out of the house on time.
Don't be like me.

8:00am, 9:00 at the latest. I take into account traffic, needing to pee and/or eat, having to fuss around when I arrive in order to park and find where I'm going, and the inevitability of getting lost and having to drive around randomly to get found again. And I might want to wander around when I arrive a bit to stretch my legs before sitting down again. I am pretty good at planning that kind of driving, and I like to arrive early...

Oh, and I'd drag my sorry asparagus out of bed at 6:30 in order to have time to shower and stuff.
And then I'd stop for coffee on the way out.

yeah I would leave at like 5am (too late for this advice now, have fun!) then stop halfway to get coffee and dry toast somewhere that I could just stare off in to space and wait for rush hour to pass. then I would take a nap before the conference.

Have a good drive! I hope you have a good day. And a yummy lunch.

id probably get up around 6-6:30am.
im actually pretty good about packing so i would probably pack then play on the internet
good luck!

I would get up at 8am. And I would be in the car ready to go at 9am. And I would somehow wind up getting there early! Having a smartphone with navigation is a plus. I pretty much just get in the car and let the phone tell me where to go. No need to worry or fuss with printed directions. Sometimes technology is awesome! I also tend to not eat or pee for long stretches of time when I'm traveling alone. At some point I would be starving though, so having Clif bars or something with me is a good idea.
Happy Travels!

So, I got up at 7, aimed for 7:30, actually left at 8:11, arrived a couple minutes past 1. No stops, no traffic. Win!

The correct answer depends on what vegan restaurants are between you and the conference, or in the vicinity of said conference.
